Film Festival

My favorite film we watched was the one about the indian girls going to learn more about their past. They went to where their ancestors lived and learned there. The film told a sad story, the dad of the two girls was a Christian. He grew up in a Christian church but what bothers him a little bit is that the Christians came over to help I think and brought the kid indians to a boarding school where they were not allowed to follow their culture. The children were stripped away from their culture. We see the 8th grade play in that its telling a message that indians are wild and can’t be controlled. The boy in the 8th grade play almost makes fun of the sounds indians make to tell their ancestors they are their. I’ve never thought of it that way really, basicly… whenever I am playing indians and make the indian sound and go wild, i’m technically making fun of their culture. I don’t mean it that way but thats the way it plays out. I will make sure my brothers know this because I didn’t, we should be careful.

We watched our own film called: The Eagle Huntress. I really liked that movie because it taught me more about the Mangolian culture near the mountains, it also encouraged me to do hard things. I liked how it emphasized the fact that the young girl could do things men could do.
