Beginning of the Year Reflections

One thing I have enjoyed so far is the schedule. I love that bible is first and that math is not too early. Having bible first thing is helpful because bible class might be my favorite subject. I am able to concentrate better on bible than math, especially in the morning. Another thing I’m really liking this year is that Mr. Devries really teaches us math as a class. He has the best tricks and hints. We go over each example based on the book but with a better explanation. I find myself understanding everything a lot more. I’ve learned a lot more about math this year too. It doesn’t have to be really hard. It can be easy, not fun, but easy. I’m looking forward for worship team a lot this year. It’s something i’ve never tried to do before. I’m also looking forward to having a better time in math. Like I said before, I like Mr. Devries’ way of teaching.

My Boat

In science class, the goal was to build a boat that will survive and glide along the water with only a fan put on low. We made our first boat out of a styrofoam cup, a ballon, tin foil, index cards and a ton of tape. But I wont be talking about that one… lets just say it failed and broke. With only limited resorces we made our second boat with what we could use left. Stirofoam, popsicle sticks , tin foil and index cards. The amount of resorces we used in total was 4 by 4 inch piece of styrofoam, 1 ballon, 3 popcycle sticks, 1 styrofoam cup, 3 index cards, 100 cms of tape and 10 inches of foil. The first trial went nicely, our time was 8.63, We got 2nd place. Thats pretty much what we hoped for. We didn’t make changes for the second trial. Exept push in the tin foil. The second trial got 9.33 for a time. It was hugging the edge of the pipe. After all the trials, rAGE kept its reign as 2nd well. By the way, rAGE is our boat name, the last 3 letters stand for Audrey, Grace and Emma.
