1 John 4:10-11

10 This is love: not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins. 11 Dear friends, since God so loved us, we also ought to love one another.

Our theme took two days to figure out this year. We brainstormed and prayed in little groups, then came together as the whole grade to vote on the final decision. We made a decision but then found out someone didn’t vote so the teachers had to count again. It was that one late voter who changed the answer. We can show our theme, Lost in Love, to others in our school and to people in the world.

I can show this theme in many ways at school. I want to respect younger kids. As an Elementary student I felt like all they did was tell me what to do. I would run away from my 8th grader going to family groups because I thought she was talking to me like a two year old. Now I’m embarrassed because she’s now one of my family’s good friends.I would like to try to interact more with Elementary students. I liked it alot when an eighth grader passed by to give me a high five. It made me feel special because I really felt like they were taking time out of there busy schedule to say hi to me, a little 1st grader. Speaking of respect, It is important to respect adults. Teachers, Parents, Extended family members, Church associates… some ways we can respect them is to look at them in the eye when there talking, give them your attention when they are talking to you, obey what they tell you and when they want you to do it… and so many more.

I think we should show love by spending time with other people is an important way to show love. I want to take time out of my day to cook with my grandma or read to my brothers. Yes, spending time with our friends is one way of showing love but can we split our time properly? Maybe we can just spend a minute talking with a neighbor instead of going to play football with your friends. Do you remember that Jesus took time out of his schedule to be with little children. We can also show love by doing things without being asked at grandma’s house when you’re having a family reunion. You could help someone pick up something that spilled at the store. Another one could be even just saying a quick prayer for those with big needs and little needs. It is important for us to involve God in every aspect of our life.

We can show our theme, Lost in Love, to others in our school and to people in the world. There’s many opportunities to love, we just have to stop concentrating on ourselves and look around us. We should love to everyone, people we know and people we don’t know.
