This past week in Bible class we have been looking into the missionary Paul. He was a Pharisee, a religious worker who was supported by the Romans, he knew all of the old testament which he had studied. He also was a very intelligent man, God gave him the gift of intelligence and had an amazing teacher as a child. He was born a Roman child so he had a Roman citizenship and that gave him a large amount of authority and also saved him from being arrested. One of his skills that also helped him was his ability to make tents, he was trained to do so to make money and he could make tents when he traveled.

All of those things in Paul’s life helped shape him into an excellent tool to help God’s Kingdom, God does the exact thing in all of our lives as well. In my life God has provided me with an amazing school to attend just as Paul learned as a Pharisee, I can learn so much about the Bible here. One thing from my past I hope God uses to further His Kingdom would be my many family members who have connections with churches to be able to help.

This is our model volcano of Mount Fuji, it is a composite volcano. It will erupt using the reaction of Diet Coke and Mentos. The model is made of a cardboard skeleton and an outer layer of paper maché. We labeled many parts of the volcano including the magma chamber and the vent among other parts that were required.

Our group has been researching the present and past persecution in Afghanistan and the Middle East. Our group made a video about Nero a ruler in rome and a poster about present day persecution in Afghanistan.

In math class we were challenged to create a model showing the pythagorean theorem in real life. We came up with the word problem idea when me and Cade were talking about setting world records. We wanted to know the biggest ski jump world record, and also the speed records. We decided to do both at once and set the jump record and break the speed record in one run. The problem was figuring out if the jump would be legal under the imaginary jump standards of the record books. The jump was in the standards of the record books and I believe the answer makes sense because the jump had to have a hypotenuse of under 250, and ours had one of 215.41 therefore making it legal. Our poster showed all sides of the triangular jump and gave the measurements of each leg and the hypotenuse.

How did the 1st trial go?

We came in 5th place with a time of 11.23, we had an ok run but the boat ran along the edge a bit towards the middle of the race.

Changes to be made

Add a ballon on the back with an openable valve to give it a boost

How I hope it goes

I hope we get an improved time and stay off the edge throughout the whole race.

This summer was one of my favorites because I got to do a lot of what I love, travel. One of the first things I did this summer was go on a mission trip to Nashville with my youth group. We had a great time helping people and learning more things about faith with all my friends. Then another thing I got to do was go to a camp with many of my friends and have one of the most exciting week of summer. The funnest thing I did with my family was when we to a campground in my grandparents trailer and I got to meet up with some of my old friends. In my down time I relaxed in bed and played video games. When I wasn’t doing any of that I was usually on a bike ride with my friends. I got to meet a ton of new people and have a great time getting to now them. The only thing I wish I did during the summer that I didn’t was hang out with more of my friends from school. Over all it was a great summer and it was probably one of my favorites.

Inmigración:

Por este año he conocido a muchos inmigrantes en la día de inmigración y en otros tiempos con otras personas. Es un tópico muy grande y hay muchas razones en que alguien podría querer inmigrar. Durante la día de inmigración hablamos a mucha gente de cómo 3 diferentes países porque los de español sólo podrían hablar a personas de lugares hispánicos. Entonces todavía quiero aprender de lugares interesantes como personas que escaparon de países europeas porque los Nazis querían matar a los Judíos. Pero yo sí podría escuchar 6 diferentes historias de cruzar desde México a E.E.U.U.

¿Quién somos?

Desde escuchar tantas historias sobre cómo es ser un inmigrante, yo he aprendido que hay muchas diferentes tipos de personas en el mundo con muchas diferentes historias. Pero creo que en nuestras vidas no vemos las semejanzas de nuestras vidas y solo enfocamos en las cosas como los trabajos que tienen que hacer. Creo que por esa razón mucha gente piensan cosas malas sobre las inmigrantes y que necesitamos cambiar esto. En mi opinión podemos cambiar eso con conectar inmigrantes con personas para hablar de sus experiencias y dejarles conectar. Pero sobre todo debemos ver uno a otro lo mismo porque todos somos hijos e hijas de Dios.

¿Quién es Él?

De ese experiencia, yo he aprendido mucho sobre quién es Dios y cómo Él es parte de cada momento de nuestras vidas. Por ejemplo en casi cada una de las historias que escuché de los inmigrantes, hablaron de su fe en Dios. Creo que podemos aprender muchos de esas personas y sus historias maravillosas que tienen, solo necesitan un chance para decirlas. En mi opinión cuando alguien habla de la fe y cómo Dios le ha llevado por una situación difícil siempre me da motivación para escuchar más por la guianza de Él. En conclusión creo que todos deben de tener la chance de escuchar historias de inmigrantes porque son personas muy interesantes.

¿Quién soy yo?

Después de tener tiempo de reflejar de cómo esa unidad me ha afectado y he encontrado que me da mucha esperanza a el tiempo en que todos podemos tener la paz entre todo el mundo. Pienso de eso porque me da tristeza escuchar historias de personas y sus experiencias. Unos de sus experiencias como tener que ir por tan malas lugares con personas que solo tienen malos intenciones. Pero por mí mismo hay mucho que quiero cambiar pero obviamente no puedo hacerlo solo entonces quiero poder hacer que todos entienden. Pero por todo solo quiero poder ver a personas haciendo un cambio en sus leyes y en sus acciones a inmigrantes.

Llamada la acción

Lo que yo cambiare en vida diaria y lo que los demás deberían hacer es ser más abierto a las culturas de los demás. Si podemos pensar de los demás antes de nuestros mismos creo que ayudar mucho en crear un mejor mundo. Creo que si todos hacemos esto podemos entender más las vidas de otros. Consecuentemente si podemos entender las vidas de los demás crea un lugar donde personas pueden sentir seguro y cómo personas pueden reflejar con ellos. En conclusión todos deben tener relaciones con personas que han emigrado porque sus historias nos pueden impactar de una manera inmenso.

¿Que paso?

En nuestro modelo del Unión Africana llegamos a 2 resoluciones pero antes de llegar esos teníamos que ir por un proceso muy largo y extensivo. Ese proceso empezó con mostrar a otras países nuestro opinion sobre la tema que fue la Democracia. Después de que todos habían mostrado su opiniones teníamos un tiempo de caucus en que podíamos tratar de crear un grupo de países y empezar un resolución de draft.

¿Que aprendiste?

Aprendi que Cameroon fue malo porque no podian crear un resolucion para no democracia entonces obviamente no tenian buenos ideas.

Mi grupo trabaja muy bueno en grupos porque nosotros ayudamos crear el mejor resolucion que gano el vote.

Informe de Posición

Argelia propugna que todos deben ser iguales porque igualdad es muy importante en tener democracia. La democracia es algo bueno que haces los países para tener un gobierno donde todos están más o menos feliz y que todos pueden votar por alguien que es más o menos bueno y todos al edad de 18 o más puede votar, si eres un niño o niña o cualquier otra cosa no importa todavía puedes votar. También ní importa si eres niño o niña o cualquier otra cosa todavía puedes ser presidente pero no hay un chance que vas a ganar.

En mi país están clasificado en 2.58 en el proceso de electar, y eso me confunde porque no importa si era niño o niña, puedes votar y ir para presidente pero es verdad que ellos han tenido un presidente por mucho tiempo. Pero tiene sentido también porque no muchas personas participan en el voto de presidente.

Creo que en mi país debemos empezar a aceptar todos los 63 géneros y darles un chance de expresar a sí mismo. Creo por ese plan todos pueden ser aceptado y tener sus ideas mostrado y dar a todos un chance de lograr sus sueños y tener un mejor país. Pero por ahora todos debemos tener mentes abiertos a todas las ideas.

My understanding of Africa has expanded greatly this morning by seeing the numbers and percentages of different problems in real life with the example of the cards. Being able to see how many people are affected by these things was eye-opening to me because we always hear numbers and percentages but it’s so much easier to understand when you see it in the form of an image.

I learned that some resources can be much easier to maintain if you buy it once and keep, like a cell phone, rather than having to continuously buy it over and over again. I realized that there is much diversity in Africa and that what people look like, talk like, and act like all depends on where you are. Both of these thing helped me realize that Africa is much more than a continent that we saw in a funny cartoon movie we saw when we were kids, and much more than just a place we go for mission trips and to adopt, it’s a place that people call home and a place that is still growing and we need to support that.

My take away of this movie is that with perseverance we can achieve anything, no matter our gender. I learned that you can accomplish great things when we train for them and practice. I think the director had the idea of getting rid of the concept of gender roles, like guys being the only ones who can eagle hunt. I though it was interesting how in the article we read the camera man never had to force someone to say something negative about Aisholpan, they already wanted to put her down.

Scale- I thought this film was interesting because it showed the magnitude of the planets and how large the universe truly is.

Running Wild- To me this film was slightly less interesting because of the fact that they didn’t really find anything but the process that they used to try and track them.

Generation Up- What I liked most about this film was the message that the girl wanted to share, about wanting to tell girls that they can do anything.

Strong Water- I think that the people who created this sport or activity where very creative.

My presentación de Cataluña

Bienvenidos, mi comunidad de personas de Cataluña, te invito para escuchar mis razones sobre la idea de la separación de Cataluña. En mis argumentos hablaré sobre por qué Cataluña no debe separar y porque pienso eso.

Mi primer argumento es que Cataluña no debe separar porque no han creado suficiente de un población para tener suficientes trabajadores y oficiales para tener un país sostenible como hemos visto en situaciones similares en el pasado. El región de Cataluña sólo tiene un población de 7.519 m, comparado a los 46.77 m de España en total. También han tratado por muchos años sin éxito.

Para mi segundo argumento tengo el razón de que si Cataluña está bajo el poder de España, no tendrán el derecho de separar, pues de las leyes de Espanã sería ilegal. En las leyes de España dice que no pueden, entonces no deben porque está contra el ley. Sí habían creado un ley diciendo que Cataluña puede separar eso sería más probable pero no hay, entonces no deben separar.

Mi ultimo razón es que si separan del país de España Cataluña va a estar muy vulnerable a cualquiera ataques. No tendrían un ejército ni un buen manera de defenso, tendrán que reclutar muchos de sus residentes para su ejército.

En conclusión, no deben separar de España porque estan todavía creciendo a ser un país entonces no sería el tiempo correcto. Tampoco es legal al momento entonces deben esperar hasta el momento perfecto. Consecuentemente estarán muy vulnerable a ataques y otras cosas cómo haci. En suma no deben separar y deben esperar hasta que sería un mejor momento.

While we learned about the lifestyles in Birmingham I learned that a lot of the African American communities were completely disconnected from the “white” communities and they had to stay in “their part” of the town. I also learned that even when the children and students were completely ready to go to jail, the parents and adults were extremely hesitant and didn’t want to go. One of the things that surprised me was that the FBI closed the case of the bombings without even filing a single charge.
