Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving

  • I am thankful for my family because they are always there for me when I am having a hard time with school work and they just make me happy.

  • I am also thankful for my fat, but cute dog Scout. She is so cute and she just is funny.

  • I am thankful for food and water because I need that to survive and if I didn’t have that I would die.

  • I LOVE horses and if I didn’t have them I wouldn’t like life like I do right now and so I am thankful for horses.

  • Friends.  Friends are amazing. They make you feel better when you are sad or in a hard time in your life and you just need some comfort. And they are really funny. All of my friends are really crazy and like to talk and make me happy. They are just like me.

  • School can be kind of hard for me sometimes so I am thankful for a teacher who helps me. And in the beginning I don’t get it at all and at the end I get it really well.

Pinball Wizard-Newton’s Laws of Motion

Newton’s laws of motion

Law #1: The law of inertia.

  • An object at rest will want to remain to stay at rest unless an object or somebody forces it to move. And an object in MOTION wants to stay in motion unless someone or something stops it.

    • We rolled a bowling ball down the hallway and we had Cade stop it. So Cade was the one to stop the ball. Even though it wanted to stay in motion it couldn’t because it was forced to be stopped.

Law #2: F=ma.

  • Acceleration is produced when someone is pushed by someone. So, the greater the mass of the object the more force it will take to push the object to move it.

    • The LESS the mass the less force it will take. For example, I was pushing a chair and it had not a lot of mass. When I pushed Abby on a chair then it took A LOT of force to push her across the room.

Law #3: The last of Newton’s three laws of motion is…

  • That for every action there is a reaction. I have a couple of examples to show you.

  • The first example is that Mr. Bouman threw a ball at my back and the ball bounced back to Mr. Bouman’s hands. The action was throwing the ball and hitting my back and the reaction was it bouncing back into Mr. Bouman’s hands.

  • And another example is I got onto a scooter with Lena then we pushed off of each other and I fell on my face. The action is pushing off the reaction is going backwards.

  • Another example is we put a clothesline across the room and a cut straw and we tapped a blown up balloon onto the straw then we un taped it and it blew off. The action was the air coming out and the reaction was the balloon blowing across the clothesline.

  • Here is the order of the laws: #1: An object at rest will want to stay at rest unless a person or something forces it to move. #2: An object in motion will want to stay in motion unless a person or something forces it to stop. #3: Force pairs. In every action there is a reaction.

How could I apply that to my pinball machine?

  • For law #3 there is a action and a reaction and the launcher needs that law. The action is the launcher hitting the ball and the reaction is that the ball is going up into the air.

  • For law #1 so there would be a wall on the side and if the ball rolled in there it would say game over.

  • For law #2 you can control the power of the flippers. And if you hit it really soft the ball would also go really softly. And if you hit it hard the ball would go hard too.

Pinball Wizard: Electromagnets

What did I learn?

  • I learned that the more coils the more paper clips you will pick up and i know that because we got 36 paper clips.

  • I also learned that that there is a north pole and a south pole on a magnet. And that they will power each other when they are facing each other.

  • I also learned that electromagnets were found in animals like dolphins and pigeons.

  • And that the force of an electro magnet can also be produced by an electric current through the wires.

How can I apply what I learned to my pinball machine.

Maybe I could have a metal ball then I could have a whole bunch of wires through out my pinball machine. I could have wires on my launcher and it could be connected to all of the wires in my pinball machine. And when you launch the ball the wire will have electricity and it could turn it on.

Pinball Wizard: Making a bulb light up

Pinball Blog

We were thinking that maybe we could have two switches on it and you would turn on the first  one on and it would say game on and when it was over we would turn on the second switch and it would say game over. Maybe I could put A LOT of light bulbs into the pinball machine and some wires and when you turn on the switch it would trigger something and it would say game on or game over.

How do you make  light bulb light up?

First you put the path (The wire) in the battery holder. the source is the battery and it is the most important part of the circuit. Then you put the path into the battery holder. Then the electricity will travel then the electricity will light up the load. (light bulb) Then you have light!!!!! hooray!!!!!!!!!!!
