Christian Persecution

Here are some crazy facts about Nepal. When they want to say hello, they put their palms together and put their forehead down, that means I salute the God in you.  Today, Christians make up 2.8 percent of the population while Hindus account for 75 percent. Nepal is between India and China. Their flag color is blue, red, and white. The population is 27.8 million in 2003.The flag stands for the mountain and stands for Hinduism and Buddhism. Christians have been persecuted in the past and are still being persecuted in countries today such as, Nepal, however, there are things, we can do, to help others Christian.

Here are some stories that show people getting persecuted in the past. Stephen was one of the seven that got chosen from the Holy Spirit. From all the people or the disciples the Word of God spread very fast. Stephen was filled with God’s grace and power. So I heard that some men went and told the elder and the teachers. They got everything stirred up. They brought him before the elders and said that this man has not stopped talking against the Lord and the spirit. When he was asked if the charges were true  he brought it to the Bible. He also said he would never say anything bad against Jesus and the Bible. When the high priest heard this he said that Stephen was lying and he should be stoned. Stephen knew in his heart and mind that he was right. He also knew that is what he gets for telling the word of God. Before the stoning could take place god put Stephen to sleep.  Nero, he grew up to be the worst ruler in the history of Rome. Because when he found out about Christian he would anything to stop them sharing the word of God. Like Nero slaughtered Christians by the hundreds. Fastened to

crosses, Christians were set on fire to illuminate a circus which Nero staged for the crowds in his own gardens. This story is a crazy story because John was one of Jesus disciples. The Romans wanted James dead, so they tried to burn him in a pot of oil, then poison him, and then they sent him to an island. On the island James wrote the book of Revelation. Many people killed Christians like a king, judges or anyone who had power. People didn’t like their teaching, that is what got them killed.

Christians in Nepal are still getting persecuted today. On story is this, The police arrested two school principals and five school staff members. The police treat them like terrible people. They are not bad people. The police made them sign a paper. That paper was if they were taking Bible’s and giving it to people who would like them. Not forcing people to take them. I’m not sure what happened to them at the end. Another story is this, Four Christians were sentenced to 5 years in jail because they were doing “Whichcrafts.” One woman came in a church and asked for healing. So they prayed for her that she could get healing. It is sad that the 4 people are going to prison when they didn’t do anything wrong.

Something that we can do to help the persecuted is pray like everything depends on God. This woman in her 20s said, “I came across your ‘Silence is deafening’ article on during my work shift Friday afternoon. Needless to say, by the end of the article I was in tears, nauseous, and overwhelmed by a sense of impending doom. You concluded the article with the words ‘…Act as everything depends on you.’ These resonating words have seemingly found a permanent place in my mind. As I sit here, I feel absolutely powerless…How do I help? Is there any way of helping? What do I do? I need to do something after reading your article, and I’m praying you might have an idea or some sort of guidance for me.”The woman who was reading

this sent a letter back to this person and asked for ideas and this is what that person said.  Some things that this woman responded was this… Be as informed as possible, support

organization that reaches out to the persecuted, pass the word, put it in writing, make your voice heard, pray and depend on God.

Christians have been persecuted in the past and are still being persecuted in countries today, such as, Nepal, however, there are things, we can do, to help others Christian. Something that I can do is pray and be informed about it. Knowing it is happening is one step closer. We do not need to do anything big. Bigger is not always better. Praying about it is really strong. You are letting God know that you care. I am a 8th grader and I know that I can make a defence if I try my hardest.
