God at Work

Paul was a missionary that went all over the world to teach others about Christ. He was not always a teacher he had persecuted christians at one point. I am creative so I can build and thin of different things or solutions that can benifit the Lords kingdom. I  can go on mission trips and use my gifts and talents to gloryfiy God by helping others.

Science tower

We made at tower out of spaghetti and marshmallows and tape.  The building of the tower was great and the tower felt sturdy but when we have to put an egg in it and put it in the earthquake simulator the egg stayed in it for 5 seconds of the 10 seconds it was supposed to stay and then fell out. It was unfoutunate since we wanted it to stay in the tower the whole time but it didnt. If I had to change something I would have added more spaghetti sticks and tape on the nest part that held the egg. But we were out of money so I could not add any more.

Pythagorean Theorem Project

photo-on-11-30-16-at-8-39-am

In math we had to make a project and model that represented the Pythagorean Theorem. We made a school with a ramp. To find the length of the deck of the ramp we had to use the highth of the ramp by the bottom length to find the lenth of the deck.

Metaphor Writing

I am a Sand Dune (at Silver Lake) A sand dune is made up of many things. The first way is a wide variety of sand. This different colors of sand adds contrast and texture to the sand dunes. The blowing sand makes and shapes the dunes different every time I come to make an otherwise bland landscape cool. My life is also filled with different events, people, and things that have added lots contrast to my life.

I am also  a sand dune which has lots of sharp, dead stumps. These stumps are like the sins and problems in my life. When you look at a sand dune from far away you cannot see these stumps but once you enter the sand dune you can the all the patchy stumps that make the sand look like a wasteland. Like the stumps, when someone spends time around me they can see the problems and sins that make my life look like a wasteland.

I am also a sand dune which has a breeze which blows from the lake eroding and shaping the sand dune. At first glance people may not feel the wind but as you get higher up on the sand dune you feel how vital it is to the shaping of the sand dune. This breeze  is my faith and beliefs that you may not see at first but see them over time. They have shaped me into the person that I am now and hope to be in the future. After a Period of time, My faith grows into a whole sand dune being shaped by the wind.

I am also like a sand dune which has lots of little but deep ponds and streams running through it. These bodies of water are important because they keep the strong winds from changing the  dunes too much. It also keeps many of the nearby trees alive in the dry times of the sand dune. These bodies of water are like the streams of worship and faith that are vital to the survival of my life. We cannot survive without Jesus leading our lives.

Science Chain

photo-on-10-17-16-at-12-52-pm

In Science we had to make a chain that would be able to hold Weights. The weights were 200g, 400g, 600g, 800g, 1000g. The chain needs to be able to hold all of these at the same time. It first we tried one rubber band in between each pipe cleaner but it was too weak and the rubber band was going to snap to be doubled them up and then it streched pretty far but still worked. The materials we used on this chain were; 10 pipe cleaners, a few inches of string and 10 rubber bands. The chain seems to work out well but we will have to see how it does during the 30 second test.

Names of Jesus

This week in Bible we have been studying different names of Jesus. I have the name (or Names) “My Lord and My God.”  The Meaning nowdays would be like saying “My Master.”

I think this verse Applies to Jesus in his Divinity Because It is talking about My Lord And God and God is in heaven and the two of those are connected which makes me think that he is referring to heaven when he says “My Lord and my God.”

Theme Writing

Colossians 3:17

And whatever you do, whether in word or deed do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the father through him.

Selfless

Selfless means to me that we need to have Less of ourselves and more of others. We came up with the theme by selecting different Bible verses from the Bible and coming up with the one that most suited our class. I can apply this theme to my life as an 8th grader at Zeeland Christian School and to my life in the community and in the world.

This year’s theme can apply to my life here at Zeeland Christian School. Ways I can be Selfless in my everyday 8th grade life are; Letting other kids go before me when I rush to the Pizza line on Thursday. Or saying Hi to the 6th grader who seems scared of the older kids in the hall. Or helping a special needs kid do something they wouldn’t be able to do on their own. These are just some ways I can live out my theme Selfless in my school.

This year’s theme also applies to my life outside of school. Ways I can be Selfless in my Community and around the world are; Talking to someone while you’re waiting in line for something. Or bringing food the the local food pantry to help the homeless. Or praying for your community. These are just some ways I can live out my theme Selfless in my Community.

This year’s theme means to me as a Christian that we need to reflect Christ by being selfless. Christ was never selfish. He was always thinking about others and not himself. Healing the sick and teaching others.

I can apply the theme “selfless” to my life as an 8th grader at Zeeland Christian School and to my life in the community and in the world. Selfless means to me that we need to have less of ourselves and more of others.

Summer

Over the summer I did some fun things. We when camping up at Siver Lake Sand Dunes and went on the dunes with our truck. I also went on a mission trip with my church to chicago. We worked at many soup kitchens and in the mornings work with some little kids. On our way there we were followed by a guy that was getting super mad becuase we were stuck in a traffic jam. And he must have been late for something. One day we also went to Craigs Cruisers. And we rode on go-karts and I beat my sister. And then after that we went and got frozen yogurt. I had a fun summer!

Invictus – Movie

What struck me about this movie is how Nelson Mandela (Morgan Freeman in the movie) used rugbe to unite the contry of South africa. Another thing is how protective the guards were about Nelson Mandela like when a plane flew over they were about to get him out of the stadum when they figured out it had lettering on the bottom to cheer  on the rugbe team.

Hunting the Elements

I learned that when you add simple metals like iron in small amounts to sand  (glass) it makes a much stronger type of glass. I also learned that you can use carbon 14 and carbon 12 which are in everything to figure out how old the object is. And when you add sodium and chlorine togather it makes simple table salt. My favorite part of the video was when they used raw metals to repell sharks in the ocean from a peice of meat!
