Theme Writing
“They have no speech, they use no words; no sounds is heard from them. Yet their voice goes out into all the Earth, their words to the end of the world.”
Psalms 19:3-4
Last May we went to Camp Roger for leadership camp. We picked the theme for the 2014-2015 year. Our theme is Shout Silently- Actions that Speak. While we were at camp we did lots of fun activities as well as spiritual team building. We all got together in groups to discuss what it means to be a leader. I was very excited to become a leader to set good examples to the younger grades and also lead them more to Christ. As an 8th grader I can use our theme Shout Silently “Actions that speak” at school and at home and out in the world.
As an 8th grader it is really important for me to set my goals and what I can do to help or include others. My 8th grade goals are to include others when they are excluded from a group. Its hard to watch someone getting ignored and all I want to do is make them feel welcome. Another one of my goals is to say “hi” and give kids high fives to let them know that I am friendly and let them know they are doing a good job at what they are doing. Another example of my goals is to hold doors for kids in wheel chairs or grandparents when grandparents day come around. And ultimately I want to be kind and caring to my class mates and my teachers.
Doing things at home and out in the world is also as important to me as my 8th grade goals. I have goals that I can do at home and also goals to go out into the world to help others. A few of my goals to do at home is to pick up after myself with out my mom or dad asking. Do chores with out trying to talk them out of me doing them. Another one of my goals is to Shout Silently at home and out in the world. One goal that really stuck out to me was when I was in Chicago and I volunteered at a soup kitchen and I have just wanted to do that again. It makes me feel good inside knowing that I am helping others out.
As an 8th grader I can use our theme Shout Silently “Actions that speak” at school and at home and out in the world. All of these goals are very important to me. I hope I can achieve all of my goals during my last year and Zeeland Christian. The verse we chose as a grade will help me shout silently to others knowing that my voice will go out into the world with out using words only actions.
