E.T.'S THOUGHTS!!!

Water Erosion

My partner Sophie and I we assigned this assignment about water erosion. We have made models of two identical valleys. The first shows a relatively new river, that is flowing through a green valley. The river is very small and shallow. In the second model it shows the same river but a long time later. The river has eroded the banks so the river a quite a bit wider, and the water has also made the river deeper. In our presentations we had to show a before and after on how it changed. The model on the right shows the erosion before it happened. And the model on the left shows it after an erosion.  In the model on the left it shows it forming a delta. Also after that erosion there was a beach formed. There is a horse shoe shaped lake in the left model and that is called an oxbow lake. An oxbow lake is a meander cut off from a river by deposition of sediment

Spaghetti Egg Tower

This is my groups spaghetti tower. As you see it didn’t turn out very well. Our diagram was a little different than what out actual tower turned out to look liker. Our tower was supposed to me 40 cm tall but collapsed on the last day so now it is only 22 cm. Our spaghetti tower is made up of spaghetti sticks and marshmallows. Now we are going to put our tower on a “earthquake” with an egg sitting on the top to see if our tower will pass the test. The “earthquake” machine is made out of wood and rubber bands.

The Holy Spirit

All the gifts the we have gotten have been given my God. There is nothing greater than than his gifts given to mankind. The Holy Spirit is a gift giver. He blesses us with things that we don’t always need. For example non of us need the newest update for iPhones or the latest fashion. But the Holy Spirit blesses us with things that we don’t always need like uncountable blessing. The Holy Spirit builds into our lives love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self control. That is the greatest most powerful gift I could ever receive.

Each time I introduce the Holy Spirit it is he not it. The Holy Spirit is a real person who came to reside within Jesus. Nothing is greater than the presence of him. God is one being made up of three distint persons the Father, Son and Holy Spirit. Each Trinity shares the same substance of God. All three of them have a unique role in my life.

Thoughts on Bowling

Yesterday November 11, 2014 my 8th grade class when bowling. We had lots of fun coming up with fun ways to bowl. For example we did a fun round where each different match was a new fun way. One why were did was about half of my grade (about 20-25 people) lined up and spread their feet apart and someone pushed the bowling ball threw all of our legs on to the lain. Another fun one my team did was we laid on the ground and pushed the bowling ball onto the lane. I got a strike that way!! Our team ended up doing fairly well but not A+ well. Everyone wants to win, but we are always winning in God’s eyes. This is a picture with some of my friends when we were bowling.

Jesus’ Crucifixion

The past few weeks we learned about Jesus’ Crucifixion. And the last seven words of Jesus Our teacher put up 7 posters, each one for each verse. Each different poster had either compassion, trust, obedience, humanity, hope, forgiveness, completion. My whole grade reflected on how we could to each of these things for others out side of our school. Jesus said all of these things leading to him dying on the cross.

What I Learned in Math Class

These first few weeks have been an easy breeze in math class. I learned how numbers have a lot of different groups. Numbers go into real numbers and not real numbers. Believe it or not there is fake or not real numbers. Crazy right? Not real numbers are are zero over zero or there is a negative inside of the square root. Of course there is not possible ways for there to be not real number, but those are the only ones that I learned. The real numbers go into rational and irrational. A rational number is a decimal that ends or repeats and a irrational number is a decimal that never ends. From there the numbers go in to a integer. An integer has no decimal. From the integer the numbers go into a whole number. A whole number is where there is always positive numbers and no negative numbers.

8th Grade Theme Writing

Theme Writing

They have no speech, they use no words; no sounds is heard from them. Yet their voice goes out into all the Earth, their words to the end of the world.”

Psalms 19:3-4

Last May we went to Camp Roger for leadership camp. We picked the theme for the 2014-2015 year. Our theme is Shout Silently- Actions that Speak. While we were at camp we did lots of fun activities as well as spiritual team building. We all got together in groups to discuss what it means to be a leader. I was very excited to become a leader to set good examples to the younger grades and also lead them more to Christ. As an 8th grader I can use our theme Shout Silently “Actions that speak” at school and at home and out in the world.

As an 8th grader it is really important for me to set my goals and what I can do to help or include others. My 8th grade goals are to include others when they are excluded from a group. Its hard to watch someone getting ignored and all I want to do is make them feel welcome. Another one of my goals is to say “hi” and give kids high fives to let them know that I am friendly and let them know they are doing a good job at what they are doing. Another example of my goals is to hold doors for kids in wheel chairs or grandparents when grandparents day come around. And ultimately I want to be kind and caring to my class mates and my teachers.

Doing things at home and out in the world is also as important to me as my 8th grade goals. I have goals that I can do at home and also goals to go out into the world to help others. A few of my goals to do at home is to pick up after myself with out my mom or dad asking. Do chores with out trying to talk them out of me doing them. Another one of my goals is to Shout Silently at home and out in the world. One goal that really stuck out to me was when I was in Chicago and I volunteered at a soup kitchen and I have just wanted to do that again. It makes me feel good inside knowing that I am helping others out.

As an 8th grader I can use our theme Shout Silently “Actions that speak” at school and at home and out in the world. All of these goals are very important to me. I hope I can achieve all of my goals during my last year and Zeeland Christian. The verse we chose as a grade will help me shout silently to others knowing that my voice will go out into the world with out using words only actions.

Book Review

“The Fault in Our Stars”
By John Green

This book is a great book for teens. Its is a very sad love story that ends up in a tragic disaster. This book is also full of bursts is humor.

In this book the main character Hazel has a very rare tumor-shrinking that she has had for a few years. This means at any given moment she could stop breathing and die. She has had the tumor for a few years and has to wear a oxogen tank where ever she goes. Hazel goes to a cancer support group that he mom offered up to her because she never gets out of the house. At the support group she meets someone named Augustus Waters, her story is about to change dramatically.

My favorite part of this book is, when Hazel goes to the support group and shares what sickness she has with everyone who also could die at any moment. I really like this part because if I’m having a bad day I try to remember the ones who are in the hospital who could die and never see there family again for a long time.

I recommend this book to all teens, because they might enjoy it but also get caught up into it, and not want to put the book down.
