I experienced a very fun trip on the dunes in the winter. I am on the dunes a lot but not during the winter or the month of March. Even though it was raining on the hike in was still quite fun because it was the true outdoors. In the true outdoors there is no knowledge of what might happen, and to me that is a fun feeling. My favorite film was the film on the Letter to Congress because there were lots of pictures of the outdoors. Another one that I liked was the film on Sky Migrations. This film was very informative and shows how amazing birds can be. I think that it would be fun to try and follow some birds all the way from Michigan down south and back up when they come in the spring. The seven minutes of silence was very peaceful because I couldn’t hear a thing from the stump I was standing on and it felt as though we were miles away from the world. It impacted me a lot because I felt as though I was standing on a stump that God created and that us humans destroyed. Later that day after watching a video at school I realized I was standing on a timeline because all the plants and stuff there had taken about one-hundred-thousand years to form even after the glaciers finished out that area. I will think differently now and will think before I wreck more of God’s nature than the naturalness that has already been recked. I will also try to have more silent time like we did on the hike in the dunes. The best place to do that is by a very quiet natural area if possible where there is true peace from the world’s noisy area.
En Mongolia Aisholpan, una nina de nomadas que cazaban con águilas para obtener lo que quería. Antes de ella ningún nina había ido a un festival, además ella ganó el premio del primer lugar en el festival. Muchos no pensaban que era era suficientemente listo para ser un cazador así que ella y su padre fueron casando con su águila. Después de algunos tratos su águila caso un zorro y lo mató. Me impactó mucho porque todos decían que ella no podía hacerlo pero ella no se preocupó sobre eso y solo hizo su mejor. Ella hizo todo esto al edad de 13 que es nuestro edad. Muchas personas en la competencia tenían muchos más años de edad y experiencia. Pienso en una manera un poco diferente ahora porque ella hizo casi el imposible así que nosotros debemos pensar como ella y hacer lo que queremos. Otras personas no nos van a dictar que podemos hacer y como. Nuestra vida es la propia y lo vamos a vivir como queremos vivir lo.
Algo que causaria la desigualdad son el patron de que quizas hay una familia que son campesinos y luego su cosecha no es sucecivo y luego no tienen tanto dinero. Si esto pasa no tendran mucho dinero. Despues si pasa otra vez van a tener que mudar a la ciudad. Y si vivian en el campo probablemente no tenian un educacion muy bueno asi que no tienen las oportunidades como las personas que tienen buena educacion. Luego no tendran un buen trabajo y sus niños no tendran mucho dinero para un mejor educacion. Asi que el ciclo va a seguir hasta que rompe. Si ayudariamos a ellos financialmente podriamos romper ese ciclo.
In the Bible, names were very important. Not only did the people have names with a lot of meaning behind them but they also had special names for God. Two very popular names that were used for God was Yahweh (YA wey) and Elohim. Yahweh means Relationship God, and Elohim means Creator God because he created everything. Back in Bible times, it was popular to have a name based on the character of a person. God would give names like to Jacob he named him Israel which means wrestles with God because that is what he did in the dream. I chose the visual of the name tag because your name tag can be who you are and what you put on it is a reflection of yourself.
Covenant
Back in Bible times, people made covenants with each other. To this day people make covenants with their jobs. For example, a person might make a covenant with their supplier to supply them with some material each Tuesday. God makes covenants with his people. Some covenants that are called conditional have to have both parties cooperate. Like for example if you do this then I will do this. God made some conditional covenants that meant if Israel obeys God protects them but if they disobey God punishes them. God made an unconditional covenant with David that meant that no matter what, God would not destroy David’s line. A covenant means deal or agreement of some kind. God makes a covenant that we can accept and that is to take care of his great world. For the visual I chose two people shaking hands because it looks like they are making a covenant or deal.
Slavery – Salvation
Lots of times bad things but God turns it to good. Like with Joseph his brothers sold him into slavery but he ended up saving all of Egypt and his family. With Moses, he was born into slavery but saved by Pharaoh’s daughter and he later saved all of Israel. People can try to hurt you but God can change it for good. It shows us that God is present and help us through really bad times. I like that we can know that God is ever present in our life. My picture is the sun because it will come up every day until God stops it, and God is in control of it.
Sinai Law
The ten commandments that God gave to us still apply to us even though they were issued centuries ago. They are a deal we made to God and we have to follow them. It should cover all of our daily life; from school to sports and activities. God said that if we are his people then we have to know and obey his commandments to live a Christ-like life. It means to me that God is trying to keep us safe from all of the junk of the world and that he cares for us. My picture is a crosswalk light because it is a law that we should obey because it keeps us safe.
Salute to a King
After some time Israel got into a cycle which went like this; they would sin so God would punish them. Later they would cry out and then God would send a judge. They would live in peace until the Judge died then they would start the cycle right back over again. Sometime later the people asked for a King, a Melek King who used power instead of following God’s rules. But God sent a Nagid King, a king who followed God’s directions. There was a question for a King to answer every day; do I do what culture advises or what God wants me to do? I think that that question is in our lives and that we should choose God’s way because it is the right way. For my picture, I choose a Bible because culture tells us we don’t need God in our lives but we have to follow God’s ways and read it.
Symbol of the Lamp
Jesus is the light of the world and he comes from David’s line. In this part, God makes yet another covenant with David. This covenant states that David’s line will never end neither will his throne because form his line Jesus will be born. David was a man after God’s own heart even though he made plenty of mistakes. Jesus is the light of the world and he will come from David’s line/lamp. This is important to me because it shows that great people that God chose to do great things are sinful and we can still do great things even if we are not the perfect person. For my visual, I chose a flashlight because even in the darkness of the night/world there can be light and we can decide how we use it in our lives.
It was a fun project because Prince and I were able to but the Pythagorean theorem. At first we were thinking of a word problem with carpet. But then I realized carpet is not measured diagonally. So we thought of the idea of finding the Hypotenuse with people going 2 different directions. It makes sense that the hypotenuse is bigger than “a” and “b” because it has to stretch to both of them. It went really well I wonder if we could have done something in true real life like actually doing something like this. This was a great project and experimenting.
Yo aprendi de que puede ser fácil llegar y aplicar para una visa. Tambien aprendi de que puede tomar muchos años como una persona con quien hable le tomó 5 años hasta que podían emigrar de Países Bajos. Yo hable con la Maestra Duran y para ella y su niño solo le tomaron 5 meses aplicar para llegar a los Estados Unidos. También yo hable con la señora Timmer que tuvo una historia más impactante porque su familia tuvo que esperar 5 anos antes de que pudieron emigrar. También ella tuvo más papeles y fotografías de su país en que nació. Después de que ellos se mudaron hubo un gran inundación en Países Bajos y ella tuvo imagenes de eso. Paso porque las paraguas tenían un hoyo en algún parte y no podia para la agua. Hubo una inundación por mucho tiempo hasta que sacaron toda la agua y la agua secara. Ahora voy a pensar un poco diferente porque ahora puede entender más como las visa funcionan y que son. También voy a pensar de cuán difícil fue para algunas personas emigrar de su país nativo, y que son algunas cosas difíciles para ellos. Para ser un buen amigo y ser una ayuda a las personas que son inmigrantes es ayudar a ellos entender las leyes y cómo leer. Además si tienes la oportunidad de emplear a un inmigrante que no tiene un trabajo eso puede cambiar su vida y su futuro. Creo que el Día de Inmigrante es algo muy especial y que debe pasar cada año. Ademas quizas deben cambiar los tiempos porque algunas personas ni contaron medio de su historia en treinta minutos y hay mucho más que podemos aprender de ellos.
