The Pearl Review Questions

Something that stood out the most to me was how selfish Kino got and how money and greed can truly impact people in a bad way, and it made me mad how greedy Kino was. Another thing that stoke out to me was how Juna stayed with Kino, I would’ve left him and never came back. I thought she was dumb to stay with him for everything he has done. He went crazy over a dumb pearl. I learned from this book that greed brings out our ugly sides and how some people do anything just for what they want. This made me learn not to be selfish and greedy because when we are, it makes us look foolish and beings out the worst of us. I learned that we should not be selfish with our things and share so that we aren’t greedy and selfish because no one wants to be around someone who only thinks for themselves and wont share and stuff. Also to be grateful for everything we have because it can be taken away, so to cherish everything we own and for friends and family.
Overall this book was something I did’t enjoy, it wasn’t my kind’ve book but I know some people may of enjoyed it but I personally didn’t.

8th Grade Job shadow day

I learned a lot from this day. I job shadowed my old pastor, Pastor Todd. He works at the Holland Rescue Mission. And it taught me about how people actually do live in missions and have poverty and I really learned how he helps people there and helps them come to Christ.

If I could have anything I want.

One day Addy Kuiper and Hannah were sitting around watching their favorite movie, Mean girls. When Hannah asked a question
” What if you could go shopping anytime you want and it all be free?”
“Well that would one of the best things in the world” Said Addy
So then the next day at school, Hannah and Addy were sitting in class, Chatting it up. When all of a sudden, Justin Bieber walks threw the door and says ” Hannah Kiekover , you have just won a life time of free shopping anytime you please.” She got up and ran and gave him a hug and was so happy she began to cry. “This is something I have always wanted, Free shopping when ever I want, and eating as much as I want without getting fat, But this is amazing.”

* Three months later *
Addy and Hannah were at the River town mall, They walked into Pink, They saw so many amazing sweatshirts, shirts, yoga pants and sweat pants. Hannah picked out 6 sweatshirts, 4 shirts, and 3 yogas and 1 sweatpants. It would’ve cost over 500 but it was all free. Hannah is the happiest girl in the world.
” Man, we are so lucky this stuff has happened to us” Said Hannah
“yeah, Our invention is pretty great too.”
You see in 8th grade Addy and Hannah made a pacifier that glows in the dark and they made billions. They were billionaires at 14. So they are both rich. But Hannah can go shopping and everything she gets is free. And well Addy, she boat a yot and filled it with shoes so that when they go sailing they never run out of shoes, and they always are looking good. But when they go shopping, They get basically new wardrobes every time. Hannah’s 2 closets are filled with clothes. And So is Addy’s closet. But have no fear. They are not spoiled brats. Even though they get a lot they give back their old clothes and such to less wealthy. And their parents wont let them be spoiled brats. So have no fear.
” Dude we have so many clothes, this is so amazing.” Said Hannah
“Dude I know” Said Addy
And they always were very stylish even on those days were they are scrubbing it, They look good. So this affected them in a good way, because they always had nice clothes and their parents wouldn’t let them be spoiled brats. So thank you Justin Bieber for making Hannah Kiekover’s dreams come true. And thank you Niall Horan for making Addy Kuiper’s dreams come true as well.

If I could have anything I want is unlimited free shopping. I love shopping so that would be the best thing ever. Or as I said eating as much food without getting fat.

(CNN) — A body found Tuesday in Rhode Island’s Providence River has been identified as that of Sunil Tripathi, a Brown University student who had been missing since mid-March, police said.
No foul play is suspected, police said, citing the state medical examiner’s office.
It might take two months to determine the cause of death of the 22-year-old philosophy major, said Dara Chadwick of the Rhode Island Health Department.
The identification was made through forensic dental examination, Chadwick said.
His relatives’ search for Tripathi was detailed on a Facebook page, “Help us find Sunil Tripathi.” They had temporarily taken down the page after they were inundated by ugly comments when he was falsely identified on social media as a possible suspect in last week’s Boston Marathon bombings.
Tripathi was last reported seen early March 16, on a security video walking south on Brook Street in Providence, near his home. His last recorded computer activity was shortly before that sighting.
“He was seen on the 15th, Friday, hanging out with his friends, talking to family members, all normal activities, nothing out of the ordinary that anyone detected,” his brother Ravi told CNN affiliate WPRI on April 10.
Tripathi had been on leave from the Ivy League school, meaning he was granted time off but remained a student there.
He was trying to figure out what he wanted to do, Ravi told WPRI.
He described his brother as a quiet person who enjoyed the little things in life. His preferred food was vegetarian, and he was a talented saxophonist, the family said.
Sunil, who had been living in Providence since 2008, grew up in Radnor, Pennsylvania.

Tuesday they found a body in Rode Island in the Providence river, They identified him as a man named Sunil Tripathi. He has been missing since March 16. When they found his body they said they think that there was no foul play, but they aren’t for sure. They also say it will take about 2 months to discover the cause of his death. He was last seen March 15, a friday, hanging out with his friends and family nothing out of the ordinary. Also video cameras saw him on the 16th of March as well. When he went missing they made a Facebook page for him, asking to help find him but had to take it down because people were saying hatful things, thinking he was a suspect in the Boston bombing. But he was a good kid who went to the Ivy League school, but he was on time off from there. And also they found out it was him threw dental examination.

I thinks its very sad that he died and then was found in a river bank. I hope they find out what happened to him soon, so the family gets some knowledge on what happened to him. Also I think its a terrible people would say rude things about him just because of his race, I feel bad for the family that they had to read those hurtful things about their son while they are sad about him missing too. But i’m glad they found him so the family doesn’t need to worry anymore if he’s hurting and they got some closure. And I hope there was not any foul play so when he died so he didn’t have to die in pain. And I hope they find out what happened to him soon. And to pray for the family while they go threw this hard time.

Senate Session

What I enjoyed was how we took something we learned about and did it for our selfs and we learned how to do a senate session and applied what we learned and did it. What surprised me was how well everyone would debate. Something that frustrated me was how when I was doing my job when people would ask the most pointless questions ever. What I learned about myself was that I get frustrated easily at dumb questions. What I learned about my class was that we all like to debate and ask a lot of questions. What I learned about my government was how they run things so we got a little taste on how they do things for our country. What I learned about how the world works was that people do this in real life and we got to experience how they do it. How this shapes my future actions is I can keep calm when people are asking dumb questions and answer them as calm as I can. I can engage in my government by when we have our next senate session by asking more questions and debating more. It shapes the was I interact with people because then it gives you more time to hear others thoughts and hear what they think and take what they said and use it for future purposes. My favorite part was when we would get in deep discussion on one topic and go on about that one and keep talking about it and hear what we all think on it. What I would change is have more time to fill out the sheet. But over all I think that it went very well and the next one will go even better.

Comparing between different countries governments

Filed under: History — hkiekover17 at 3:55 pm on Thursday, March 7, 2013

I researched a few different countries. My countries were the following, Cameroon, Cuba , Australia, Italy, and Israel. Something I learned that surprised me was that in Cuba 65.1% of the people are white. And in Australia 7% of the people are asian and Cameroon has 0-14 years of age make 40.3 of the people and Italy has 25-54 makes 43.3 of the people and Isreal has 65 and older makes 10.3 of the people. I think of the world differently now from what I’ve learned because I found out that there are so many different kinds of government and there is so many different ways people run different countries. The countries I researched are the same to the U.S in most of them have presidents but a few of them have queens instead of presidents. Also all most all of them have Supreme court systems or High court systems. And they mostly all have the same kind of way they deal with problems in there countries like U.S government does. But all of them have different dates of Independence. None of them have the same day of independence.

Pretoria, South Africa (CNN) — A beloved model is dead, those who knew her are in mourning, and one of the world’s most admired Olympians is charged with her murder after a Valentine’s Day shooting in South Africa.
Oscar Pistorius, a Paralympic runner who blazed new terrain by competing in last summer’s Olympics, is accused of killing his girlfriend, Reeva Steenkamp. A shooting took place inside his upscale home in Pretoria, South Africa, early Thursday, and only the two of them were there at the time, police said.
Shock waves from the incident quickly reverberated across the world, casting a shadow over the man known as the “Blade Runner” for his achievements on prosthetic limbs.
Pistorius will be named officially as the suspect when he appears in court Friday, in keeping with South African law. Authorities have already announced that the suspect is Pistorius’ age.
Investigators gave no motive for the alleged killing.

Police were alerted to the shooting by neighbors, and residents had “heard things earlier,” spokeswoman Denise Beukes said.
A police spokeswoman said there had been “previous incidents” at the home, including “allegations of a domestic nature.” They did not detail what those may be.
Pistorius was arrested and accused of common assault in 2009, but the case was thrown out because of a lack of evidence, police told CNN on Thursday.
That incident involved Pistorius allegedly slamming a door during a party, and a piece of the door fell off and hit someone, said Capt. Marissa Van der Merwe of South African police.
Police are not aware of any prior incidents between Pistorius and Steenkamp, Van der Merwe said.
Some South African media outlets suggested Pistorius may have mistaken Steenkamp for an intruder. South Africa has a high crime rate, and many homeowners keep weapons to ward off intruders.
Beukes said those reports did not come from police. There did not appear to be signs of forced entry at the home, she added.
“This is a very quiet area, and this is a secure estate,” Beukes said.
A pistol was recovered at the scene, police said.
In November 2011, Pistorius tweeted a photo of himself at a gun range, and wrote that he had “a 96% headshot over 300m from 50 shots! Bam!”

Pistorius cooperating with police
Pistorius has made no public statement. His spokeswoman Kate Silvers said the athlete is “assisting the police with their investigation but there will be no further comment until matters become clearer later today.” Police also said Pistorius is cooperating.
He arrived Thursday at a police station in Pretoria.
Beukes said the state will oppose bail. That means the 26-year-old, who was among the men featured in People magazine’s “Sexiest Man Alive” issue, could be behind bars, at least temporarily.
Pistorius is not being brought to court Thursday because the public prosecutor needs more time to prepare the case, police spokeswoman Katlego Mogale told CNN.
A model’s life violently cut short
Steenkamp, 29, had been looking forward to Valentine’s Day, encouraging her Twitter followers to “get excited” for the holiday.
On Wednesday, she tweeted, “It’s a beautiful day! Make things happen. Starting my day off with a yummy healthy shake from my boo,” followed by a smiley face. “Boo” is a term for boyfriend.
“She was the kindest, sweetest human being; an angel on earth and will be sorely missed,” Capacity Relations, the agency that represented her, wrote on Twitter.
She was “just a great, fun presence of a person,” said Hagen Engler, former editor of the magazine FHM. He described her as “a bikini model, beautiful, gorgeous girl” with a “wicked” sense of humor. She understood the industry and was intelligent and fun to work with, he said.
Pistorius’ father, Henke, told the South African Broadcasting Corp. his son was “sad at the moment.”
“I don’t know nothing. It will be extremely obnoxious and rude to speculate,” the father said. “I don’t know the facts.”
Nike pulls ad
Nike pulled an ad featuring Pistorius from its website Thursday. The ad showed Pistorius taking off for a run, and contained the words” I am the bullet in the chamber.”
The company issued a statement expressing “sympathy and condolences to the families concerned following this tragic incident.” The company added that it will not comment further, noting that the situation is a police matter.
Other Pistorius sponsors — including prosthetics manufacturer Ossur, British Telecom, and Oakley, which makes sunglasses and other products — expressed condolences and said they had no further comment at this time. Fashion company Thierry Mugler had no comment.
As Olympian, Pistorius faced controversy
Pistorius, a double amputee, competed against able-bodied runners during the London Olympics, triggering controversy as some said the prosthetic limbs gave him an advantage. His legs were amputated below the knee when he was a toddler because of a bone defect. He runs on special carbon fiber blades.
Pistorius was initially refused permission to enter the Olympics, but he hired a legal team to prove that his artificial limbs did not give him an unfair advantage — and was allowed to compete.
While he did not win a medal, his presence on the track was lauded by many people around the world as an example of victory over adversity and dedication to a goal.
He smashed a Paralympic record to win the men’s 400m T44 in the final athletics event of the 2012 Games.
In an October interview with CNN’s “Piers Morgan Tonight,” Pistorius discussed the “massive blessing” of inspiring people around the world.
“Being an international sportsman, there’s a lot of responsibility that comes with that, so having to toggle that and remembering, you know, that there are kids out there, especially, that look up to you — it’s definitely something that you need to keep at the back of your mind.”

A Olympian blade runner shot his girlfriend. He says that he shot her in self defense and that they found her with 4 bullets in the head and they thought he shot her at 4 in the morning and police wont confirm information and people are gathering out of the place and a court appearance should be happening soon it should happen with in the next 58 hours.

I think that its terrible how someone can kill someone else and I think that what he did was terrible and he deserves everything he will get and he deserves to go to get a lot of punishment and I just don’t understand how he thinks its okay to take someone else life like I just feel thats a terrible act he did and he deserves to be punished very hard. Also I think that if he actually loved his girlfriend he would not of done that even if it was out of self defense and if it was he still could of done something else because taking her life was way to far and he deserves all the punishment he can get.
