That Monday something was about to happen that came as a shock to most people. I was walking by the front office when I saw Mr. B, resting with his head on his desk. It seemed unlikely that he would be sleeping. I went in to check on him and he wouldn’t wake up. I called 911 and the ambulance came within minutes. They pronounced him dead. After a thorough investigation, they came to the conclusion that someone had poisoned his coffee that morning. The only things that were on the desk was his coffee, a headband, a binder, and a key to the teachers lounge. I decided I would investigate the case to try to figure out what had happened. I first went to Jenna. She told me that she went to go say hi to Mr. B. She said they sat down and talked for a few minutes and then she left. I asked her what she did in his office besides talk, but she wouldn’t tell me. Then I went to go ask Joy a few questions. She said that she had gone in the office that morning, and he wasn’t there. “Perfect time to put something in his coffee,” I thought to myself.
“Joy, what did you do when you noticed that he wasn’t there?”
“I looked around, I was just looking at all of the books he had.” Said Joy
“Did you touch anything?”
Joy replied, “No, I think I might have left my headband in there though. I can not find it anywhere.”
Next I went and talked to Andrew. I asked him quite a few questions. He seemed pleased at the fact that Mr. Buteyn was dead. I asked him what he had done that morning before school started. He didn’t talk much but I got a few things out of him. He said that He had walked in the front entrance noticed Mr. B wasn’t in his office, then went to the teachers lounge to ask him a question. He found Mr. B in there talking with some other teachers. Mr. B asked Andrew to fill up his coffee for him.
“I don’t have the energy to do anything until I have my coffee.” Mr. B had said.
So Andrew went and filled it up for him. After he got back Mr. B asked Andrew to go put it in his office, and he would be there to talk in a few minutes.
Then I asked dante a few questions. I asked him if he had seen Mr. B that morning.
“No, I didn’t see him. I went to the front of the school but he was talking to Corbin so I just went back to the Middle School.”
That gave me my next suspect, Corbin.
“Have you seen Mr. B at all today” I asked.
“Yes, I have. This morning I was walking down the hallway and wanted to talk to Mr. B. I stopped in his office and he was sitting there so I sat down and talked to him.”
“Did you do anything besides talk to him when you were there.”
“No, we just talked about school. I think I might have left my binder in his office.”
After that I went and talked to Mrs. Zastrow.
“Did you see Mr. B at all this morning?”
“Yes. I went in the teachers lounge and was talking with him. As we were talking Andrew came up Mr. B asked him to fill up his coffee.” She said.
“Then what happened?” I asked
“Andrew went to go fill it up. I left the teachers lounge. When I got into the hallway Andrew was walking towards his office to put the coffee in there. I offered to take it there for him.”
“Did you go straight to his office after that.?” I asked
“No.” She replied. I made a quick stop to my room to grab something.”
I noticed that she had a wrapper sticking out of her pocket, so I asked if I could see it. She handed it to me and I didn’t know what it was. I looked at it. I could barely make out the words “do not eat” on it. It was old and faded. It seemed like it had been in her pocket for a long time.
My last suspect was Mrs. Roskamp. I asked her if she had seen Mr. B that morning. She said she had gone to his office to talk to him about a student that was troubling her. When she got there Mrs. Zastrow was just leaving, and Mr. B was entering the room after talking to Andrew. Mrs. Roskamp said that she had accidentally left her key in his office. I asked what the key was for, and she said it was to get into the teacher’s lounge.
Jenna– Didn’t like Mr. B. She thought he wouldn’t ever let have any of the students have any fun. She was mad at him for not letting students on their phones during the school day. She always had something mean to say about him.
Joy- She wanted a new principal. She didn’t trust him to make good decisions as principal. She didn’t trust him. She never showed any respect to Mr. B and always told him to leave her alone.
Andrew- Andrew was always spending time in Mr. B’s office. He was quite a troublemaker. At least 3 times a week he would end up sitting in his office for things that he did. He was always starting fights and disrespecting the teachers. Andrew thought that if they had a new principal then he would not be punished as much. He hated getting in trouble but he well deserved it.
Dante- He really didn’t like Mr. B. He thought that he was too old to be a principal of a school. He wasn’t mean directly to Mr. B, but he always talked about him. He always told his friends how annoying he was. He would ignore him and was not very friendly.
Corbin– Had a strong hate for Mr. B. They used to be old family friends. Something happened between them. Ever since then they hated each other. They just ignored each other and pretended the other person didn’t exist.
Mrs. Zastrow- Wanted to be in a more powerful position in the school. She knew that if Mr. B was gone, she would have more power. She would be in charge of the middle school and maybe even get some control over the elementary.
Mrs. Roskamp– She knew that if Mr. B was gone she was have more power in being able to punish kids. She always loved getting kids in trouble and was annoyed that they would always have to be sent to the principal’s office. She wanted to get the kids in trouble.
Solution:
Mrs. Zastrow is the one who poisoned Mr. B’s coffee. She wanted to have more control over the school. She saw that Mr. B had Andrew fill up his coffee, and she knew this was the perfect chance. When Andrew left the teacher’s lounge she quickly offered to bring the coffee to his office. She first went to her room to grab the packet she was going to put in his coffee. She had been working on it for a while, to make it look like it was old incase someone would find the wrapper. She quickly headed to his office, and made sure no one saw her. She put the coffee on the desk, and poured the poison in.
