Themes Of The Old Testament

NAMES

Everyone has a name Usually your parents give you your name. Sometimes names can change like when Saul was blinded God changed his name to Paul. Saul means to ask and Paul means humble All names have meanings like my name Joshua which mean God saves or God is generous. I like to remember this when I am sad so This is the pictures that I chose. God has many names, Like Elohim which means creator God, and Yahweh which mean relationship God. God changes names a lot in the bible like Saul, he changes names based on their meanings.

Sinai law

The Sinai law or the 10 commandments is a covenant between the people of Israel and God. The people couldn’t keep the law and follow it. So God then made a new covenant this one had to do with Jesus and this one was written one the people’s hearts not stone. The new law should cover every part of your life instead of Video games, Sports, Friends, Toys, Money, Technology, Food, Music, Popularity and Social media. Many people Put these thing first instead of God. I have a picture of a buoy in a swim area even though you don’t like them and want to swim past them you know their there to keep you safe

Something is Rotten

Israel had many kings very few of them were good kings they all did evil in the eyes of the Lord and the Lord was not happy. So God sent Elijah to correct the people. There was a battle at mount Carmel Of Baal vs. God and of course God won Elijah said “How long will you waver between two gods” but the people said nothing. Even though they saw what happen very few people changed their ways. The picture that I chose is a ceiling with hidden lights. The Light in the picture isn’t very noticeable unless pointed out. Even though you may try really hard to get people to notice you as a follower of Christ that doesn’t mean they will change. Sometimes I try hard to get people to see i’m a child of God but people don’t always notice right Away.

A SAVIOR

Even though the people of Israel tried really hard to keep the commandments they could not do So God offered a new covenant. To be written on their hearts not on stone tablets. Jeremiah was the prophet that gave the covenant it was all based on God’s grace and his forgiveness. My picture is of communion bread and wine, Which symbolizes God’s grace and forgiveness. Jesus came and died for my sins so that I may be free Jesus made the ultimate sacrifice so we no longer need to make any.
