Math Pythagorean Theorum

Tim was watching a soccer game when he saw a tree in the distance that was 46 feet away with 3 squirrels in it. One squirrel was in a hole that was 8 feet off of the ground. How far was Tim seeing the squirrel from?

Answer:  46.69

The idea for this was developed over time.  We had started with a concert and a stage and it turned into looking at a squirrel in a cherry tree at a soccer game.  It was an okay project.unnamed

The Price Is Right

These last two weeks in math, we have done everything around probability and The Price Is Right.  The first couple of days all we did was watch The Price Is Right and write some things down.  The rest of our time was spent designing and making our own games.

I learned that you need to take area into effect.  I realized this when we thought that our game had a 1 in 15 chance but then realized that there aren’t holes everywhere so there is even less of a chance.

This math was really different in a good way different.  For one, we were with totally new people, and for two, we just made projects instead of working on boring math in class.  I think this was a good idea

chapter 3 lesson 3

I had a hard time with this lesson when we had to divide decimals.  It wasn’t necessarily hard, it just took a long time and got me frustrated.  I think that most of them were pretty easy as I just said, I just had a major problem with #26.

Example: Page 110 #26

26. Transportation Lonnie used 26.75 gallons of gas to drive his truck

508.25 miles. How many miles per gallon did he get?

           19

26.75) 508.25

19 is the answer, but the first time I did it with long division I was getting into the thousandths before my mom stopped me and helped me se what was wrong, all I did was mess up a little part of a problem inside of the main problem and it took me that much longer.

One time I might use this in real life is if I had to run a 5.25 miles  each day for a competition and I added them all up and had 120.75, but them I forgot how many days I ran. Them I would have to divide 120.75 by 5.25 which I then would see is 23.
