African Union Day

This past Friday, our 7th grade had African Union Day. For the whole morning, we represented African countries and created resolutions on some topics. Prior to the event, each of us individually got to write a position paper on our African countries stance on democracy. During the event, delegates from African countries worked together to create resolutions, or suggestions, on democratic values. My African country was Malawi. Malawi supports democracy and democratic values. After we made the resolutions, we debated on them. delegates from separate countries amended, tabled, or voted on the results. The hardest part throughout the entire time was convincing all the different delegates on our ideas. Overall, I learned a lot about created resolutions, convincing people, democracy, and had a lot of fun!
