Last Post.

Hey all people who look at my blog. (Nobody) Since I’m done with middle school tomorrow, that means I will no longer be attending ZCS. I’m gonna miss it. I probably won’t end up posting anything in High School. But maybe I will if I have time. It’s been a good run, but all runs come to an end.

I’ll see ya around,

God at Work

Lately, in Bible class we have been studying Paul’s journey and life. One thing in Paul’s past life that helped him in his ministry was that he used to be a Jesus-hater. This way he was able to empathize with who he was teaching. He also was jewish, so he had patience with the Jews he taught. Since Paul used to be a tentmaker, he could make tents for himself when he was on his journeys. Before he was converted, Paul even set out to destroy the church. This made him aware that not everyone loved Jesus.

I believe God has been at work through my skills and my hard work. Ever since I’ve started playing the drums, I’ve just gotten better. The same goes for running. Another thing that God has been at work in me is my hard work in school. At the beginning of school this year I set a goal to get the best grades than any other year. So far I’m succeeding. Some elements of my past that God may use to further his kingdom are the people that I have lost in my life. Later in life, I may use my experience to help others who have also lost people.

Volcanoes in Science Class

These past few months we’ve been researching volcanoes and studying. So, being in school and all, we all had to make a volcano that represented a real volcano. You could’ve made it explode or you could’ve not made it explode. We made it not explode. It was supposed to represent the volcano Paricutin in Mexico. I don’t think it looked like it at all. Paricutin is a cinder-cone volcano that is dormant. This blog is a little late but I completely forgot about it because I was so excited for spring break.

PBL – Afghanistan

In the past few weeks, our grade has been studying Christian Persecution in other countries. I, in particular, have been studying Christian persecution in Afghanistan with my fellow partners, Alex, Peter, and Cade. So, we made a project on it. Because we were forced to. In our project, we included a poster with fun facts, the country flag, and the map of Afghanistan. We also had a giant fort representing an underground church. Inside the fort, we had a cot, candles, some pillows, and a TV playing a video about persecution history.  On the other side of the table, we had a donation box, and some cards asking what you have learned, and then to pass that card on to a friend in the hallway.

Spaghetti Towers

In science class, we created a project called a spaghetti tower. We had a budget and at the top of the tower, we had to hold an egg for 10 seconds during an “earthquake.” Our tower was pretty bad, but we were impressed by it’s perfromance, because it broke a little bit the second we put the egg on. The egg survived a solid 4 seconds.

Pythagorean Theorem Project Reflection

I thought that this project was a lot funner than normal math class. I especially thought that the poster was fun to make. This word problem was our second idea, not our first. We came up with the idea after our first one had failed. We thought of the idea because I was thinking about screens that were measured diagonally. I also remembered from the week before that the kids we were helping out in worship class had IPads. I looked it up on Google if Ipads were measured diagonally, and sure enough, they were! We then began to make our project and it turned out pretty good.

Theme Writing

“10 This is love: not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins. 11 Dear friends, since God so loved us, we also ought to love one another”

1 John: 10-11

We need to show our theme, lost in love, to people and younger kids in our school because otherwise the theme is meaningless. Our theme is very important because there is lots of bad in the world, and not enough love. We can show our theme, lost in love to others in our school and to people in the world.

I can show this theme many ways at school. I can do that by… helping out my classmates, picking up trash, and giving food to someone who doesn’t have a lunch. To me, to be an eighth grader means to be a good leader and also be mature. For example, know how to have fun but know when enough is enough. I think that our grade could improve on being leaders and being mature because sometimes I think we get a little out of hand. I think might improve on all of that because of eighth grade leadership camp.

We can also show this theme to the world. We can show this theme by doing good deeds, helping others, and just being nice in general. As a Christian, I think this is a good theme because there isn’t enough love in the world and the fact that we’re getting lost in love is like the answer to all of the missing love in the world. By not having enough in the world I mean all the murders, crime, and sins we have on earth. So by acting lost in love, means we should show love to everyone. When I picture lost in love, I usually picture a heart in the middle of the woods but I also picture others helping each other in bad times.

We can show our theme, lost in love to others in our school and to people in the world.

Originally, I didn’t like this theme because I thought is was too much like last year’s theme but now I’m starting to like it. Now I really like this theme and I think we did a good job picking it. I think this theme is very important everywhere.

Beginning of the Year Reflections

One thing that I have enjoyed this year so far is art class. It’s really fun drawing really random drawings.

One thing I have learned in school is the theory of continental drift. I knew about pangaea I just didn’t know it had evidence with alike fossils, glacier scratches, and same environments where they used to be connected.

One thing I’m really looking forward to this is the banquet an getting served by the 7th graders.

What I did this Summer.

This summer I did lots of fun things including tubing, camping, and sleeping. At the start of summer, my family and I left on a road trip to yellowstone. There we saw many animals including moose, black bears and grizzly bears, elk, and buffalo. We also stayed in the park for five days, all in which we stayed at different cabins each night. We climbed a big mountain, looked at the scenery, and took pictures of lots animals. Later in July, I went to a summer camp for a week with my friends. We played paintball, capture the flag, tubing, and fighting with swords and shields. Two weeks later, I went camping at the christian reformed conference grounds. At the conference grounds we went middle school week, where they had lots of activities for us kids. After that I had some youth group parties where we tubed and slept in tents. Overall, I had pretty good summer.

Consumo

Africa Talk Reflection

Even though people may have a different skin color they can still be born in Africa, just like how black people are born in the US. Anybody of any skin type can be born in any country. Today I learned that in Africa, most people don’t any phones or electricity. I think it’s shocking how people really don’t have clean water in their tap at home, but they have to walk miles for polluted, dirty water.

The Eagle Huntress

  1. I will just put this out there, I did not like the movie. I, am a disliker of people who kill animals that are endangered and/or who are cruel to any kind of animals in general. It makes me mad that people are catching eagles, and making them hunt for them. I also thought that the whole eagle festival and how you are worthy if you win, that’s just stupid. Some things that I learned about Mongolia are… there are foxes there, they catch eagles and make them hunt for them, and they ride on very furry horses. Also, do not go to Jimmy John’s because the owner hunts endangered species.
  2. I agree with the article that it isn’t a documentary. It’s not a documentary if they fake filmed part of it. I think it was staged because it seemed too movie-like
