Native american movie

Yesterday my 7th grade class went to the Saugatuck center of the arts. There, we watched a movie about the Native americans, called “We the 7th.” “We the 7th” is about native americans, and their experiences, religion, family, school… They talked about how they got shot with rubber bullets when they tried to keep their “house/camp.” They talked about Pow Wow’s and what they do for that. They talked about their religion, for example, they told us their creation story, and I saw a lot of differences and similarities to our creation story. They also talked about how they make baskets, and it was really cool. Then, after that we went to the museum, which was also in the Saugatuck center of the arts. It was very interesting, and cool. Some of the things that I saw at the museum, were: Baskets, clothes, Jewelry… It was cool to see their religion in the artwork that they make.

After the documentary, the director talked to us about how we should “Respect, not judge.” That means, we should respect their culture, and not judge it, just because it is different from ours.

Living on one Dollar – Minkus

By watching this movie, it makes me sad that we live in a country were we never have to worry about whether or not we are going to have food on the table. Also, I noticed that we have it SO easy here, compared to some countries. Also, I used to think that living in those areas, would not be that hard after a while. But, now I know that that’s not even close to being true, that it is always going to be hard, no matter what. I wonder how long I would last there, and how hard it would be for my family. Finally, I feel like we should be able to do something for them, to make their lives easier.
