Thematic Writing

Through this book I realised that In life it might feel easier to run from the problem you are facing, instead face it. I think this is a valuable lesson to learn at a young age and to face your problems with maturity.

The first conflict in this book happened when he was feeling like he fit in, he had a starting spot on the baseball team in center field, his favorite position. Until an immigrant came from the Dominican Republic and he was a great center fielder and Mike thought that he was going to lose the starting spot in his favorite position to a new immigrant that just joined his school. And he started to think badly about him instead of respecting the position he was given. In life it might feel easier to run from the problem you are facing, instead face it.

God has given all of us all different gifts but it’s our job to use it for his glory not ours. The second conflict happened when Mike was at school and he was really mad because of the Immigrant taking his spot on the team, on this team the coach had a philosophy to have his players be the bigger people at school and on the field, and not get in trouble. Mike was walking to his class and a smart aleck kid named Jimmy said some words towards him about losing his spot in center field, Mike not thinking and being mad he pooshed him to the ground and kept walking. The coach was right there and got very mad and said that he wouldn’t be staring and he would think of one more consequence to go with it. While this was happening he was nominated the team captain at a party by his teammates. I see the theme by him persevering through the problems and working through them and normally something good will come out of it.

In life it might feel easier to run from the problem you are facing, instead face it. This book was a great book to really get into. This book was really well laid out and I think that people should read this book if they play baseball or any sport to see how you can deal with your problems with other kids.
