Erosion Project

unnamedThis is the erosion project that I made along with another person in my grade. This is and example of waves erosion, or erosion made out of waves. In this digram there is two models. The first one had a little piece of land jutting out, called a headland. Next to the headland their is a bay. Over time the waves break away the headland and add onto the bay in a long time creating a flat shore. We also have vocab words labeled on the diagrams.

The Stoning of Stephen

this is an article I made after reading the story of Stephen in the bible.

Stephen has just died from being stoned. The story of this is unbelievable! You will be one of the first to know, thanks to our own, Eye Witness, Jimmy. Jimmy will now tell us the story. ‘One day, since the number of the disciples was growing tremendously, the Self-Centered jews were getting mad. The said the widows were being overlooked without enough food. We all agreed that this was true, so we picked 7 men who were full of the spirit. These 7 men were Stephen, Philip, Procorus, Nicanor, Timon, Parmenas, and Nicolas. There job was to take care of the people who were sick, or didn’t get enough food, etc. Stephen, one of the 7, was full of God’s grace and power. He performed great wonders and signes among us, they were so cool. There were some men from the synagogue of the Freedmen who didn’t like what was happening, they began to argue with Stephen. Everyone agreed with them. It was difficult to go against Stephen because of the wisdom from the spirit. They then secretly got some men to say that they heard Stephen speak blasphemous things against moses and God. They stirred up the people and the elders and the teachers of the law, They took Stephen before the Sanhedrin. They even got witnesses who lied and said he never stops speaking against them. He then told the story about Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, Joseph, and Moses. And told how God was with each and every one of these people. When they heard about this they were furious, they gnashed their teeth at him. At this point I ran, I didn’t want to be in the middle of all this. My friend was one of the furious people, after he calmed down I got him to help me on this interview so heres the rest of this story from his view. So after he ran away Stephen looked up to the sky, he said he was looking at heaven and he saw the glory of God, and also Jesus standing at the right hand of God. We all covered our ears and yelled at the top of our voices rushing at him. We dragged him away from the city and started to stone him. All the witnesses started laying there coats at the feet of a man that goes by the name Saul. While Stephen was being stoned I saw him fall onto his knees, I heard him say something. I’m not quite sure what exactly he said but I heard someone else say he was praying, I think it went something like this ‘Lord receive my spirit, don’t hold sin against them.’ The he died. After he died everyone left, I stayed behind and thought about what I had just done. I then felt really bad and confessed my sins and became a Christian, I am now trying to get my fellow members of the Sanhedrin to become Christians also.

Egg towers

Screen Shot 2014-12-15 at 12.46.15 PMFor Science class we attempted to make egg towers out of spaghetti noodles, marshmallows, and tape. We also had a budget and we had to pay for everything we used. I think we could’ve used more tape and less marshmallows. I also think we could’ve done better if we got insurance. Over all it was really fun, I don’t know how it will do on the earthquake machine but I hope it will do good.

The Holy Spirit

The Holy Spirit

The Holy Spirit is one of 3 parts of God. The Holy Spirit is the one who lives in us, he guides us, teaches us, Works in and through us, leads us, convicts us, and equips us. The Holy Spirit is the greatest gift of all, God sent him down to be with us and live in us. The Holy Spirit is always with a true believer, once you accept Christ you are immediately filled with the Holy Spirit. Throughout the bible the Holy Spirt has been called different names, all of witch describe Him and His Power in one way or another. The first time the Holy Spirit was introduced was at creation, Jesus was filled with the Holy Spirit the whole time He was on earth. The Holy Spirit has many different functions some of them are The gift giver, the reveler of truth, The fruit producer and many more.
The Holy Spirt works in my life in many different ways. He helps me decide between good and bad. He helps me say and do the right, Christian things. He leads me to do the right things and out of harm. He equips me to go out into the world and show people and/or teach people about Christ. The Holy Spirit works in my life in more ways than I can think, those were just a few examples.

How can I use math in real life

This year in math so far I have done a chapter about scientific notation. Scientific notation is when you get a number like this 4.27*10^5 and you change it to 427,000. You can also change it around and do 2,340,000, this would be 2.34*10^4. You can use this in real life if you want to cut down on some 0’s in a letter or something. If you were writing that something cost’s $234,300,000,000,000,000,000 You can shorten it to $2.343*10^20. This way if you are writing a letter its shorter so it can save paper, and it doesn’t look like it costs so much.

Metaphor

We did a writing metaphor here is mine

Metaphor Writing

I am a volcano

I am a volcano. A volcano simmers for a while and just sits about waiting for its time to erupt. Often before something major happens in my life, things seem to just sit getting worse little by little until they erupt. For example, my grandpa’s back was hurting, after that my Grandma O. died, then Grandpa needed someone with him to take care of him at all times, during this time I got closer to him. I loved spending time with him. I was just simmering when he was sick but he could still be home and do some things even though he was in a lot of pain.

Next, a volcano is ready to erupt.   I think I was ready to erupt when my grandpa got really sick from too much medicine.  The Dr.’s at the hospital thought he was going to die, so did we, we were so scared. My parents even told me to say goodbye to Grandpa because we probably wouldn’t see him again. That was a tough night because after that I went home to bed. It was really hard to sleep after I had just said goodbye to grandpa and I thought that was the last time I would see ever him on earth.  The eruption got stopped though, which is another thing that sometimes happens to a volcano. The next morning my mom got a call from Aunt Marcia, we all thought it was that Grandpa died during the night, instead she said I have someone who would like to talk to you…then Grandpa came on the phone and said “HI! How are you?” in his normal perky way! He was back to himself! We went to go see him and he was talking and telling me jokes, just like Grandpa always did.  In the hospital, the whole family talked and listened in excitement.

A volcano also goes upward. After that eruption stop Grandpa went to Freedom Village, a nursing home.  We went there almost everyday to say hi and he told us jokes went for a walk and once we even had Russ’ onion rings (his favorite- ours too). The nurses always had funny stories to tell us about Grandpa. After a while the nurses knew us and really knew who Grandpa was! They even let me get apple juice and milk whenever I wanted, and they gave me a cookie once in a while, along with some Root Beer Floats, I had so many of those!

A  volcano finally erupts, Things were still going upward. We had booked a cruise and made sure Grandpa was going to be ok before we left, we went to Florida then on our cruise. We couldn’t get in contact with my aunts or uncles because we were out of the country. When we were on our last stop, Key West, Florida. My dad turned on his phone and checked his voice mail.  Mom and I  got ready that morning, and went down to the boys room.  When we got there, everyone was crying. We asked what was going on, dad played the voice mail – it was Uncle Ron’s voice telling us that Grandpa had died.  Everyone started crying. We finally decided we would finish the cruise then drive home as soon as we got back to my grandma Vos’. We went out to explore the Key, and we wanted to snorkel but my dad can hardly swim so he didn’t want to. Finally my dad said we could for grandpa because he would’ve wanted us to have as much fun as possible, and he was adventurous. We drove from Miami after the cruise to Orlando stopped to get our things and drove home…it was a long car ride. We came home and had his visitation and funeral.

Jesus’ Crucifixion

For the past few days we as a class have been looking at the last 7 words of Jesus. Jesus can teach us a lot… Every one of his last words are useful and helpful for us. It’s helpful for us to know what Jesus was thinking/ what he said when he was on the cross. Most of them were not about him but about others. We need to think of others and put them first and us last.
