Heritage Nursing Home

                      2 Corinthians 5:20

We are therefore Christ’s ambassadors, as though God were making his appeal through us. We implore you on Christ’s behalf: Be reconciled to God.

We served the Heritage Nursing Home and their elderly residents.  We chose to serve their because Miah’s mom used to work their and elderly people love children’s company. We learned that this organization helps their residents a lot and they don’t really get kid’s company or any recognition. This organizations is selfless to the people they serve by giving up their time and money to work and help the elderly people in town.  We learned that being selfless is not only doing something for others but doing something for others with a good attitude. The people in my group were Hannah Knot and Miah Hutt. We had a spectacular time. We colored with the residents and kept them company. When you leave, type the correct password, and type a password and if you don’t, a super loud alarm goes off.

Matthew 5:1-12

Matthew 5:1-12 is

Introduction to the Sermon on the Mount

Now when Jesus saw the crowds, he went up on a mountainside and sat down. His disciples came to him, and he began to teach them.

The Beatitudes

He said:

“Blessed are the poor in spirit,
for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
Blessed are those who mourn,
    for they will be comforted.
Blessed are the meek,
for they will inherit the earth.
Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness,
    for they will be filled.
Blessed are the merciful,
for they will be shown mercy.
Blessed are the pure in heart,
    for they will see God.
Blessed are the peacemakers,
for they will be called children of God.
10 Blessed are those who are persecuted because of righteousness,
for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

11 “Blessed are you when people insult you, persecute you and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of me. 12 Rejoice and be glad, because great is your reward in heaven, for in the same way they persecuted the prophets who were before you.

Matthew 5:1-12 means to me that Poor in spirit, they will get the kingdom of heaven. Those who mourn they will be comforted. The meek, they will inherit the earth. Those who hunger and thirst for righteousness they will be filled with righteousness. The merciful will see mercy. The pure in heart,  They will see God. The peacemakers,  they will be called children of God. Those who are persecuted because of righteousness, theirs is the kingdom of heaven. Blessed are we when people do evil against you. Celebrate and be happy because great is the reward for you in heaven, and in the same way they persecuted the prophets who were there before you.

How can I Bring Others to Christ

How Can I Bring others to Christ

In Words;

I can tell others about Christ;    tell his stories, tell his love, tell his salvation. You can do this anywhere, at school, at a restaurant, on the bus or in the car, at church, at yours or another house, anywhere, Jesus likes to talk to you

You can invite others to church events like church dinner, Gems or Cadets (depending on Gender), Middle School ministries (when you are old enough), regular church, Sunday school, or special events like “Stations of the Cross” or a Christmas event or no occasion at all! That is how they can learn about God.

In Actions; Have Christ like behavior, good behavior, be joyful, write encouraging notes,  doing good deeds for others,  helping people. For example; helping with a sport, school subject or anything else. It honors God.

Some ways we are tempted is to misuse a computer, like chat for example. It wastes your time and you can talk face to face at recess or with permission. Teachers say not to use chat and  you still do. That is another sin, disobeying.. A computer records everything you do so don’t think you can just get away with it, people can look at your history.  Chat keeps you from getting work done and the quicker you get work done the quicker you can do free write or reading. That is fun. So don’t waste your time on chat. You can also be tempted to take another sweet when you were told only one or you lost a snack privilege. That is temptation. Don’t do it!, Like Jesus say bible verses or pray to God, or just say “God, help me to get out of this situation” and he will help you . Another temptation is gossiping., “She likes him” or “I heard he is getting braces”. Those are simple gossips we say a lot. If it is  does not encouraging than do not say it, not even if they won’t care. Gossiping is a sin, and gossiping tears people down, it feels like it builds you up but it tears people down and it is not the right thing to do. Another example of temptation is to tell secrets like “I know what is wrong, her parents are getting a divorce”, It feels good to have that moment of glory but it is one moment and what a price to pay when your friend avoids you for telling her secret and people will call you a blabber mouth and won’t tell you anymore secrets. What a price.! Don’t follow temptation, it only gets you into trouble, and can waste time.

A Refugee

If I were a refugee I would be terrified, I would not know where to go or what to do. I would  be sad too, leaving family and friends and all I owned and loved. I would also be so upset for having to leave my home. I know only know a bit of Chinese, and Italian and and French and Vietnamese. But I do know tons of Spanish! I think where ever I went I would still be devastated. I do know one word of all the almost all the other languages, sadly it is not Help but it is hello. Very useful, not!! I would need to know where everything is and how to live in that country.  I  would be upset for no matter what reason I was leaving my country for.

Jesus being a refugee makes me feel better though. When he was a baby! He went through lots of tough trials and hardships but that is just incredible, for us! I don’t think I would live if I was a refugee. But since I know that Jesus had been through it I would call on him and know that he would be with me and guide me with every step I take. I appreciate that he went through this  because that is him humbling himself and showing how much he loves us even more!  He is so humble and loving that he does this all for us which makes me love him even more. It makes me feel closer  to him knowing what he does for us. And Jesus a refugee as a baby here, he could not even walk! So let alone flee from Herod who was killing all baby boys two and under. It is one thing to flee as an adult a child at least can run but really? A baby? That just shows how miraculous God is and his wonderful plan to save us all from our sins. He risked his life for us and could have killed himself like that.

The Horse and His Boy

What are Some Christian themes in the Horse and His Boy?

Aslan is like Jesus, he is on earth and started as a cub.  Aslan gave Rabadash grace and many chances before he turned him into a donkey, and there is a talking donkey in the bible. In The lion, the witch and the wardrobe Aslan died on a stone table- Jesus died and was put in a stone tomb. It also mentions “Sons of Adam” or “Daughters of Eve” and those people are in the bible. Pride leads to down fall because Rabadash . Punishment is real. Aslan punished Rabadash when he gave many warnings and Rabadash went on with yelling and doing bad things. Then he made punishment real and turned him into a donkey. Aslan said that he could turn back into a human at the temple but may not go ten miles or go to war or he will turn into a donkey for good. So his reign was very peaceful and quiet, I bet you can imagine why! Pride leads to downfall, Rabadash was prideful and jumped down to attack

Shasta is a very selfless boy. He jumped off Bree (who was running away from the lion, I thought he said he was a war horse!) to save Aravis who is getting wounded by the lion. Ouch!!! And he fought off the lion alone! I am impressed.Humbled will be lifted, well Shasta was very humble, and he turned out to be a prince- future king prince!  I will say that he was super humble, read the book and you will agree with me.
