Immigration Day

Today we had some immigrates from different countries come to our school so they could talk to us about their immigration here. I talked with Catherine Namwezi, she was an immigrant from Uganda Africa and she immigrated to the USA, she was an orphan because her family didn’t have enough money to pay for her so she is now an immigrant. In Uganda the people there are kinda poor and they don’t have very much money there to pay for their food, cars, or stuff like that. She immigrated to the US because in Uganda it was very hard to get a scholarship to college, so she emailed Hope College and told them to check her grades and they sad she would accept the request for a scholarship. So because of that scholarship she was going to leave her family in order to go to Hope for college. Some stereo types what she thought of our country was that a ton of Americans we obese. Also that most all of the people in the USA are rich and can afford a lot of stuff, unlike in Uganda the houses are 3 very little rooms and 1-2 of them are the living room and kitchen are the biggest ones, she said that most of the houses had like 2 stories and like 5-7 rooms a floor which is about 3 times the amount of rooms in Uganda houses.
