God At Work

In Bible class we have recently been learning about the Apostle Paul and his great works. Paul was a Pharisee so he had knowledge of God’s word and the Tora, both of which he knew very well. He also had Roman citizenship, so that protected him from getting the same amount of persecution as other disciples get. Paul also knew many different languages and was very smart. He was a missionary to all gentiles through the world.

I have seen God working in me by guiding me through hard choices to make. Some elements in my past where God might use to further his kingdom is when he has told me to help out in the little things. If someone has dropped someone infant of me or been hurt he tells me to help them out and ask what is wrong or what I can help with.

Volcanoes

In science class, we have been making and studying volcanoes recently. We made our volcano modeled after mount fuji. In my opinion, it turned out really good. Peter, Grant and I, have been working well at this and we think it turned out well.  Our poster is a little bit un-neat, but it still looks decent.

Theme Writing

This is love: not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins. Dear friends, since God so loved us, we also ought to love one another.

1 John 4:10-11

We need to be more out there and show love to others who don’t get it often and not just once, but continue to love them just like Jesus would. He loves everyone so much and we should do that too, we need to all strive to love God and others more. We can show our theme, Lost in Love, to others in our school and to people in the world.

I can show this theme many ways at school. I can show it to younger grades because they like to talk to 8th graders. I thought it was cool when I was younger and a old 8th grader talked to me. If someone is sitting by themselves I could go sit with them if they feel left out. This theme talks about including and loving others so that would show love to them. Another way to show this theme at school is to be kind and loving. I could hold the door or say good morning or just go and start a conversation with them.

As Christians, we can also show this theme to the world. We could give money or go help other that get caught in natural disasters, such as hurricane Harvey and Irma. They would really appreciate it to get their house back or rebuild parts of it that they lost in winds or rain. We also could if someone is homeless we could go talk to them and talk about God’s everlasting love. You could also do such a simple thing as in going around and making people laugh. It could make their day and get stress out of their lives.

We can show our theme, Lost in Love, to others in our school and to people in the world. Some thoughts I have on this writing is that a lot of people say that but no one actually does them. I want to do these and help out in the world. We need to make a difference. I am gonna try to do the best I can.

Beginning of Year Reflections

Something I have enjoyed this year was  leadership camp. It was real fun and also prepared us to be role models and leaders for the rest of the school. Something That I learned this year is high school math is really different than that of middle school. It is somewhat harder but it is also fun because unlike last year in math, we talk about it as a group more. Something that i am looking forward to the year is small groups. This year, as eighth graders, some of us are leaders for small groups. I was chosen and that is cool and I am looking forward to it.

This is the pic of our boat.

We made a sail and a straw with a ballon on the end. On the first trial we got 11 seconds. We hope we can get 9 seconds after we change it.

What I did in the Summer

In the summer me and my family try to go to our cottage every weekend. At the cottage we have a boat and 2 wave runners. It is really fun to wakeboard behind the boat. The boat makes a decent size wake and we try to jump the whole thing. Last weekend my brother Andrew had a soccer tournament and he won the whole thing. My other brother went to a stand and got 5 crates of free noodles. I had some and they were really spicy, but still good. I also work every day on my grandparent’s flower farm. My cousins also work there so it is really fun. We cut glads mostly and in the middle of the summer it takes almost the whole day. That is what I did in the summer.

Desperate Measures (Stranded: Shadow Island Series #6) by Jeff Probst

I read the book Desperate Measures (Stranded: Shadow Island Series #6) by Jeff Probst and really enjoyed it. The genre is realistic fiction because this could actually happen. This book takes place in, literally, the middle of nowhere. They are stranded on a island the hasn’t been marked with a native tribe.

In this book the main characters are Buzz, Carter, Vanessa and Jane. Buzz and Jane lost their mom and Vanessa and Carter lost their dad so their parents married so now they are a big family. Buzz is very connected with nature and out-going. Carter likes the indoors just like Vanessa. Jane likes the nature and is very intelligent.

In this book they are stranded on an unmarked island with each other and a secretive, native tribe. The family is competing in a ancient game to try to get the seccu. If they all get one the can leave the island and try to find a way home. But when they all are following the map and Carter gets lost from their sight things go horribly wrong.

You should read this great book because it is very exiting and action packed, never a dull moment. Overall I would give this book five starts because it is always action packed. You should read this book.

African Union Day

  1. A issue that was debated was of equal rights. It would help make people happy where they live so they might vote more and agree with the government. Another issue that was debated was voting access ability. That would also help because they can get more people to vote in rural areas.
  2. I enjoyed that you could work with other countries to share ideas and make things better for African countries’ democracies.
  3. The hardest part of this was to stand up in front of everyone and share a resolution. Sometimes it was a resolution that you didn’t even agree with. You had to agree with it for this though.

I learned that in Nigeria they speak over 400 different languages. In Central Africa the life expectancy is less then the rest of Africa. The life expectancy is about 51 years in central Africa and 69 years in northern and southern Africa. In South Africa, the country, almost everyone has a cellphone but very few have land lines because they are a developing country. I wonder why the life expectancy is so low in central Africa?

Film Festival/Eagle Huntress

Film Festival

My favorite film was Strong Water. It was about people from Montana that had a shallow, dirty river. They cleaned it up and they put special rocks in certain places, to make big waves. On those waves they could surf. River surfing quickly caught on in the city. It was cool because these guys found a river that was essentially useless, and made it into something that the town could enjoy. I think that the lesson is that if you have something that is useless, look at it from a different angle and it may turn out to be something that is really useful or fun.

Eagle Huntress

The Eagle Huntress was about a girl that wanted to be a master Eagle Hunter. She was the first girl to be one. It was cool because everyone was doubting her and she fought through the comments. She even went on and won the yearly Eagle Hunter Festival. She was the best Eagle hunter from the region. Everyone who was doubting her still was and they said that she just had a good bird and it wasn’t fair. They said she should go on a real hunt and she wouldn’t make it. So she went on a real hunt and got a fox. A lesson to learn from it is that if someone is saying that you can’t do something just try, push through their bad comments. Just because you’re a girl doesn’t mean you can’t do something.

Camp Reflection Day

On Friday, February 17 We went to Faith to Reflect on camp above are some of the notes that I took about some verses. Romans 12:14-16 says that we should stick with each other and help one another. I drew the earth and what it should be like… Everyone together and holding hands. It is meaningful because it wants us to help each other out and it should and kinda does motivate. From camp some of our goals go with what Romans 12:14-16 says. We wanted to respect each other and help each other. We are doing well in those. Overall, I think camp reflection day was fun and camp was even more fun.

Theme 8- Slide to Destruction

search

Israel worshiped baal and they take advantage of the poor. Then Israel is enslaved and tortured. Israel cries out to God and he sends a prophet or judge to guide them back to God. This cycle continues for a while until eventually the prophet that comes is Jesus. This visual is of the cycle that Israel takes and goes on until Jesus comes. This theme means to me that God wants to protect us but we have choices to make and they can lead to bad things. If we do get lead to bad things then we should cry out to God to help us.

Theme 7- Something is Rotten

Theme 7- Something is Rotten

imgres-4

The Israelites were worshipping baal because Ahab, the king at that time, was making them. Elijah was the prophet that the Lord sent to guide the Israelites to God. The Israelites were scared at that time that Ahab would do something bad if they worshiped God. Some of them tried to worship God and got killed. My visual fits with the theme because the Israelites were rotting by worshiping baal. To me this theme means that we need to worship and trust him so then we will be saved and not rot away.

Theme 6- Symbol of a Lamp

Theme 6- Symbol of a Lamp

God made a covenant to David that his line would continue forever. God fulfilled that covenant by sending Jesus. He came and died so that we wouldn’t have to pay for our sins and die right away. He made David’s line continue forever. My visual fits with the theme because Jesus died for us by the cross so that we would be saved. Jesus is the Flashlight that lights our way and to heaven. This visual means to me that God will help us through things and light our paths.

Theme 5- Salute to the King

Theme 5- Salute to the King

imgres-2

God wanted a king that would lead Israel back to him. Israel wanted a king that would be military leader. God’s vision of a king, a Nagid, is a king that helps people follow and connect with God. Israel’s version of a king, a Malek, is a military leader. My visual fits with the theme because God’s leader would serve and lead people to him. Israel’s leader would serve money and power. God wants us to follow him, not money or earthly belongings.
