The best thing about our pinball machine project is that we could work together and have fun.

It’s good to work in groups so you have more options and ideas.

The bad thing is that you have more options to pick from and someone might be disappointed.

In the future we should work better together and try more ideas.

We could grow before market day by, using our time more wisely and Not play around.

I learned that the bigger the marble the faster the marble goes. Also more mass = More speed.

I could apply this by: The ramp is sort of like the pinball machine. I also could put sandpaper or something to make more friction.

Pinball Wizard-Newton’s Laws of Motion

Newton’s Laws of motion.

  • Law #1 – Law of inertia.

    • An object will stay at rest until acted on by an unbalanced force.

      • I learned that if you are in a car and you turn fast your body wants to go straight.

      • I learned that if you are in a car and you hit an unbalanced force and you don’t have a seat belt you will still go forward.

  • Law #2 – F = ma (Force = Mass x Acceleration)

    • The greater the mass (of the object being accelerated) the greater the amount of force needed (to accelerate the object).

      • We pushed a medicine ball and a basketball. The medicine ball is heavier than the b-ball, so the medicine ball will go faster and further.

      • We pushed each other in chairs, to see who was heavier.

  • Law #3 – Force-Pairs

    • For every action there is an equal opposite reaction.

      • I learned that if you shot 20 gauge the gun would kick some.

      • I learned that if you taped a balloon to a straw on the string and blew it up with air and let it go it would go forward.

I could apply this to my pinball machine by:

The flippers will hit the ball and the flippers will go back

Pinball Wizard: Electromagnets

Blog research two!!!

  • I learned that Electromagnets are nails that have coils of wire wrapped around them.

  • Electromagnets use electricity to power them.

  • They have electricity going around them.

  • They can pick up paper clip.

  • The more coils you have the more power you have.

To apply this to my pinball machine by: having a magnet that drags the ball back to the launcher.

Pinball Wizard- How To Make A Bulb Light Up

Circuits! I learned that to make a circuit you need a source(battery),you need a path(wire), and a load(light bulb). To make a circuit attach the two wires onto both sides of the battery, put the other sides of the wires on the light bulb. If you try, be sure to watch this video:

How To Make A Bulb Light Up.

I could put a switch at the end of the pinball machine that makes a game over sign that lights up!
