God at Work

God used Paul many ways in his past. One of the times, Paul was walking on a road in Damascus and God used Paul to heal two people along the road when he was going to do something that he shouldn’t. The other way God used him was using him as a tentmaker. So that he could talk to others about God. I think that it is amazing that God uses people like Paul to let others know about him and why God is good. But can use us to tell others about him? I believe he can. God can use us by talking to us through prayer. God has used me in the past by giving me athletic skills that make me feel good about myself and I can play sports for his glory. God is at work in everybody’s lives.

Persecution Project

When we found out our groups we never thought that we would do good since we are really good friends. Thinking of ideas for the appearance of the project but I thought of buying a Kenyan flag because we didn’t have much else. We drew lots of pictures and we also had a donation jar that is rare, and from Africa. The hardest part of the project was trying to put together and iMovie. We took the videos in the prayer room and put them together to form our video. With all the edits to the video, it turned out great to explain persecution in Kenya and persecution in general. With the session only lasting one hour we made it through fine and got a good grade. The project went well after all!

Science

The best of our chain was the ends of the chain because it was very sturdy for the big bottles.

Finding out how we were going to make it and sketching out the chain was a struggle.

I am proud that our group had the longest chain and held the most weight/bottles.

Beginning of year Reflections

One thing that I have enjoyed this year is the new teachers. I have really liked them so far. Some more than others. It is also always cool to me to see how different teachers teach stuff. One thing I have learned so far is the study of the earth and how it was made. It is also cool to see all the different parts that make up the earth. Lastly, I am looking forward to the trip on the last day of school because it seems very fun where we are just free to hang out with friends and to just have fun.

Science Boat

The part that says boat is a sail so that it looks more like a boat. There are straws on the bottom to keep it stable. There is also a captain. There are pieces of dowel rod in the back to even out the weight in the back. Our boat didn’t look that much like a boat. We also finished with just under twelve seconds. So in my opinion, I think that the boat did pretty good.

My Summer

Over my summer I went to Washington. We went to explore downtown Seattle and see the original Starbucks. We also went to the Pike Place Market and went shopping. We also have a pool so we went swimming a lot. I did a soccer camp and played basketball outside. I played Fortnite on my Xbox too. I watched the Logan Paul vs KSI fight with my brother and his friends. We have a cabin in Kalkaska and my whole family went up there too. This summer I also had friends over. This was one of the best summers.

African Union Experience

My country was Botswana and is for democracy. It was hard to write an action plan because we had a very good democracy. It was definitely easier because we had a better democracy and we wrote our resolution with Ghana. I learned a lot about democracy doing this project because I didn’t know about democracy before we started this.

Invictus

How did you see reconciliation in the movie?

At the beginning of the movie, the South Africans were cheering against the Springboks. Then the team started doing clinics and workouts outside in public and the South Africans started to cheer for them.

Africa

Today we learned about Africa. I now know that even if someone is black, they are not from Africa. I used to think that most people that were black were probably from Africa, or at least not the US. But now I know that that is racist and that black people can be from the US. And I thought that white people were always from the United States. l learned that some people in Africa before they even turned 1. Africa is very different than the United States.

Europe Simulation on Thursday

Last Thursday we did a simulation on Europe and my country was Italy and we faced some challenges. Some challenges that we faced as a tourist was that only Italy had to pay a lot of money for the bumper stickers compared to all the other countries. Another challenge was that to get to our destination country we had to stop through a lot of other countries. A challenge as a worker was that the other countries would stop in to get bumper stickers and we only had to make them pay a half or so of their currency. A benefit for all the countries besides Italy only had to pay less than one of their currencies for a bumper sticker. There really wasn’t a benefit to Italy

Themes of the Old Testament

Slide to Destruction

The first example is Israel. First, there would be one good king, and then all the other kings would worship Baal. The consequence for the bad kings would be that Assyria would scatter them. Second is Judah. There would be two good kings but then the rest of them would worship idols. The consequence for their bad kings would be that they would be taken over by the Babylonians. So to wrap it up, you could say that the kings just went for power. And they also focused on popularity. You have to listen to the prophets in your life. And there are also consequences for doing it our way and not God’s way. My own example was social media. A lot of times people focus on popularity and “followers” or something like that. People also focus on beauty and things like that.

Themes of the Old Testament

Call

God then called Abraham and Sarah to be the parents of a great nation. Abraham and Sarah didn’t always trust God’s call and tried to control things on their own. In the end, God kept his promises. Some examples are, moving, adoption, cancer. But my example was a telephone. Whenever I hear of the world telephone, I think of calling someone. Especially God calling me. So we have to trust God with everything and trust him because we know he will do good.

Slavery and Salvation

First off, Joseph. Joseph was sold into slavery by his brothers. Joseph then helped his family survive the famine. Then, Moses. Moses was BORN into slavery yet he lead Israel out of Egypt. A summary of this could be…that people intended to harm others but God planned it for a good sake. In this part of the Bible, God proclaims, that “He is who He is”. God is unchanging. He never changes. God is faithful, and present today in your heart if you accept him in your heart. You could also say, that God is a “verb”. My example was the Star Spangled Banner. The song reminds me of the freedom of our country. And that the United States of America is a free country.

Symbol of the Lamp

God promises to send a savior through the line of David. God uses the symbol of a lamp since that was the only source of light for the people of that day. David was a man of God’s own heart even though he had made many mistakes. David’s line leads to Jesus. Who is the ultimate light of the world. My example was a flashlight or the torch that they use in the show Survivor because like the torch in Survivor, it is the only source of light that they get to use for their adventure. Also, a flashlight reminds me of God because when I have a flashlight in the dark, it reminds me that God is the light of the world and that He will always protect me.

Themes of the Old Testament

Cycle of Judges

The cycle went like this: everything goes well, people start to sin, the enemies would attack, they cry to God, and then God sends a judge.

And then people looked around and wanted a king like other nations. All the people did what they thought was right. And then we have to ask ourselves, do we do what culture wants, or what God wants? My example was “Money Vs. Respect”. Just like Culture vs God. Because we have to respect and not worry too much about money. In life everything does not depend on money. But when we respect others, we will get friends. You can not buy friends with money. It is all about RESPECT.

A Savior

The people could not keep the Sinai Covenant so God offered a new covenant. The new covenant that God made would be written on their hearts, and not stone tablets. It did not need animal sacrifices since Jesus is the ultimate sacrifice. Then Jeremiah gave the new covenant. Called the Davidic Covenant. It did not have any conditions, and it was based on grace and forgiveness. And then later, Isaiah gave the people pictures of the new Savior that they could relate to. My example was a rainbow because whenever I think of the word “covenant”, I think of a rainbow and that God will keep his promises. So we have to trust God that we will keep promises.

Themes of the Old Testament

Sinai Law

The Ten Commandments were a covenant with God. God gave the Ten Commandments to protect us. Today’s gods might be: sports, electronics, beauty, friends, social media, music, and food. All of these things can take you away from God. My example was the Switzerland flag because it is a big plus in the middle. It reminds me of protection. And with the Ten Commandments, God says that he makes them not to smother us, but to protect us.

Themes of the Old Testament

Conflict and Doubt

In the Bible times, Israel struggled with God. They did not trust God. In this story of conflict and doubt, it involves Jacob. He wrestled with God and also did not trust him. Other people that struggled and wrestled with God were: Sarah, Abraham, Moses, Jonah, Peter, Isaac, Joseph and brothers, Thomas, Noah, David, and finally Saul. A lot of things that happen is that you ask, WHY? WHAT’S NEXT? Why me? And so on…My example was soccer, #8, and #14 because my friend that I played soccer with, passed away, and I just wanted to ask God, WHY??? And those were the jersey numbers he used. So in the conflict and doubt, we have to trust God ALWAYS.

Native American Movie

After watching the Native American documentary (sleeping 10 min) I want to reflect on it. The most surprising thing that I saw was the boarding school. We can not judge them because boarding school is not a bad idea. We got to learn  ore about the Native Americans and how they lived. Their religion was different but again, we can not judge. The Native Americans were different than us. It was very interesting. It was cool to see the arts and the baskets. We got to see the designs of all the arts.

Living on One Dollar Reflection

I feel that I would not like to live there just like the people that do live there but that is just my opinion. It would definitely be really weird if I did not have as much money as I do right now than I would in Guatemala. They need money for all kinds of food, and clean water. But we just go to the store and spend a hundred dollars worth of food or drinks or clothes, and we get water from our refrigerators or faucet. After watching that video, I think that they handle that very well by living by a dollar a day. I like how they pull a number out of a hat. I think that that is just cool and how they pulled a nine a couple of times and I think those guys are cool.
