L.A. Mystery

It was a beautiful Saturday morning where the birds were chirping their resounding noise in Livingston Montana. The weather was supposed to reach an all time high of 98 degrees, but Billy didn’t have time to enjoy the wonderful weather because he had a case to solve. Billy was assigned the case of the Livingston murder. The great granddaughter of T. H. Livingston, T.H. Livingston was the founder of the city, has recently been found dead in her Family’s historic home. The house that she had been murdered in has always been a little bit of a sketchy place because the Livingstons had gone broke after the crash of the stock markets.

Billy didn’t mind going to the station in the morning, it brought him a sense of clarity but also excitement that he had been chosen to solve the case. The chief police officer, Carl Davis, had called him a round 9:00 and asked him to come down to the station. Billy drove his Ford pick up truck down the two lane road until he saw the police station driveway and drove in.

Right away Billy knew this day was gonna stink because the first thing he saw was the other head detective of the police station. Joe, the other lead detective, didn’t like Billy all that much because they were recently told by the city that they could only afford one head detective and they are currently trying to decide which one to keep.

Joe scowled at Billy has he walked by, ever since he had solved their last case Joe had been giving him the “eye” and had been out to try to find something against Billy ever since. Joe ignored him and walked into the Chief’s office.

“What do you have for me today Chief?” asked Billy.

“Well i’m pretty sure I explained most of it on the phone, so how about he drive over to the crime scene and investigate the crime scene?”

“Good idea,” replied Billy.

The drive to the Livingston’s house had been quiet and Billy knew that he had to solve this crime before Joe did to insure his title has head detective.

Billy hopped out of the car and strolled up and past the yellow tape at the front door. So he strolled right on into the kitchen where 4 people sat. These for people were the father, the brother, the twin sister, and the mother.

“Ok I want to interview all of you so I will start with you,’ he said as he pointed to the mother.

“Ok,” she said.

They walked into a side room and sat down.

“Were you here at the house when the murder happened?”

“No I was out grocery shopping at Walmart,”

“Do any of the Family members have anything against your daughter or no?”

“ No not really,”

“Ok thanks thats all I need and can you bring your husband in please,”

She walked out the door with no reply, but the husband soon came in after.

“Do any of your family members have any reason for wanting her dead?”

“Well, you see I am kinda of in the middle of fighting cancer and the doctors say that I only have weeks to live, and I kinda told them that my favorite family member will get whats rest of our ancestors riches,”

“Wait do you actually have the riches?” Billy asked.

“No I really don’t i just wanted my family to love me a lot in the few weeks i have left,”

“I see,” Billy said.

“Please send in the brother please,” Billy also said.

The brother came in with a stunned faced that made him appear to look like he was on drugs.

“Did you have anything against your sister?” Billy asked.

“Well she always seemed to be my father’s favorite but i could honestly care less because I don’t even think he has the money,”

“Ok, please send in the sister please,”

The sister came in a little bit later teary eyed, but Billy noticed a dried blood stain on the back of her hand. When she sat down she couldn’t stop shaking and fidgeting and looking all around the room.

Billy started asking some questions her voice was shaking every time she talked almost as if she was trying to not let something slip out of her mouth.

Before we continue I must use the bathroom,” Billy said.

billy slipped behind the doorway and quickly pulled out his cellphone and dialed 911.

“Hello this is head detective billy I need back up ASAP,” he quietly said in the phone.

Suddenly there was a crash as a window shattered in the room the the sister was in. Billy ran into the room and saw that she wasn’t in their and jumped out of the window after her. He saw her footprints in the mud, it had rained recently, and followed them to where her found her flopping around in the mud.

“I did it. I did it!” she wailed over and over again. “All I wanted was the money but the guilt was unbearable. I couldn’t take it any more,” she screamed.

Billy pulled her up and pulled her hands behind her back and put the handcuffs on her
