Pythagorean Theorem Project
We had to create a 3D model to show the Pythagorean Theorem. My project shows a half made frame for a painting. The frame is not finished because you need to find the hypotenuse to figure out the length the frame needs to be.
Here is the word problem:
Word Problem
Braxten wants to put a new painting in a room in his house. The height of the painting was 21 inches and the width was 36 inches. He is making a frame for it so he needs to figure out the hypotenuse of the painting. What is the hypotenuse?
Here is our work:
Work
a*2+b*2=c*2
36*2+21*2=c*2
1,296+441=c*2
1,737=c*2
square root of 1,737=c
41.7=c
Here is our reflection:
Reflection
We came up with the idea about making the painting the center of our word problem because we wanted to put something on the wall of a house. We thought a painting would be fun to do. We just took a box and created a “wall” and we put our word problem, work, and reflection on the “floor” and we created a “painting” that we put on the wall.
