Intonations/Tones

bā bá bǎ bà
jī jí jǐ jì
chī chí chǐ chì
yū yú yǔ yù

When you have two 3rd intonations/tones together, we would read it as 2nd and 3rd intonation, even though it’s written 3rd 3rd (as example below).

nǐ hǎo – read as ní hǎo
hěn hǎo – read as hén hǎo

早上好 zǎoshànghǎo – Good Morning

你好吗?我很好。你呢?nǐhǎoma? wǒhěnhǎo. nǐne? – How Are You? I’m fine. How about you?

再见 zàijiàn – Goodbye

很好/非常好 hěnhǎo/fēichánghǎo – Very good
