Africa Entry Event

On Thursday and Friday we learned about Africa. We had to write things that made us think of Africa. Heres a list.

1. Dark skinned people

2. Safari

3. Desert

4. Nile river

5. Some poor people

6. Rainforest

7. Tropical Birds

That are some of the main things people wrote. I learned that not all people are dark skinned and that not all people are poor. I hope a learn a lot more about Africa over that past few weeks.

Immigration Day

In Social Studies I learned about immigration. Many people immigrated to the United States and we got to interview some people.

I had Mrs. Cabral the first time.  She was born in Ohio and moved to Puebla Mexico.  She went to Michigan to get into a good college.  She lived by an active volcano so instead of snowstorms they had ash storms.   Ashes would suddenly fall when they were playing outside so they had to be careful every time they went outside.  Some food they ate in Mexico were fried crickets. They sometimes put chili on the crickets.   Mrs Cabral grew up with a maid and it was very difficult for her to learn how to make her bed and put away her laundry and things like that.  She went to a christian private school and their wasn’t much christians she graduated with 3 other students all boys.  The main sport they played was soccer.   Her neighborhood was fenced in and guards with guns and if a visitor came to visit they had to make sure it was the right visitor or they would shot them.   I learned so much about Mrs. Cabral and how she lived in her childhood.

I had Mr. Drost (Haley’s Dad) second.  I learned that he was born in the Netherlands and he moved to Canada when he was little.  He moved to United States  for education.   He stayed in U.S.A because he met his wife and wanted to stay with her.   The food in Canada was the same just a little more plain.    In school we normally say 1st grade, 2nd grade, 3rd grade and in Canada they say grade 1, grade 2, and grade 3.    I learned a lot about Mr. Drost and know I know a lot about my friends dad 🙂 .

I’m so glad we did this project and now i know about Immigration way better.
