On thursday the teachers were introducing us to Africa for our new unit. They first had us right a bunch of words that we thought of when the said Africa. When we were done with that we made a wordle. A couple big words on it was people, poor, water, and others. It made me realize that we were all judging all of Africa but only a couple of places have bad water or are poor. Some places in Africa are really rich. The teachers also had a slide  show ad we had to guess if they were born in America or not. Everyone didn’t even get close to getting them alright, because there are different people and what they look like in different parts of Africa. It shows that we do not Africa very good at all. Later on friday we each got a card from a deck of cards and the teachers gave us some statistics and had people stand up for example if you had a face card stand up and then all those people would either have something or they wouldn’t have something. Some of the things that shocked me was like 15 out of the 60 people in ur class stood up and everyone standing up had a sewer system so I mean we just take that for granite and some people have like 5 bathrooms and some have 1 in Zeeland but people they’re might have one or maybe 2 if they were really rich. My thought on this when we were done was wow we do not know Africa and Africans at all because we always thought that all of Africa was poor but there is only a little part that is poor. This showed me that Americans have a lot of Star-o-types for Africa and Africans. I also learned that Africa is very rich in some places for example: South Africa is very rich. Another big thing I learned is that we take way to much for granite like everything because they are lucky if they have a laptop and than they are extremely lucky if they have wi-fi. This is what I took in and learned from on thursday and on friday.
