Week #6

¡Queridos Padres!

Seems like has arrived the season for hoodies, boots, hot cocoa, jeans, sweaters, fog, rain, and cool weather! Welcome fall 🙂 I hope all of you had a great long weekend!

We will have our picture day on October 2 at 11:45 am. Your child will need to bring the picture envelope.  If your child is ill or you just don’t like the picture there will be a retaken day (TBD).
Also, our first field trip is coming, stay tuned more details to come.

Grace & Peace;

From the immersion program director
How do we help to equip our immersion teachers towards the best immersion pedagogy? Thanks to our partnership with add.a.lingua, we can confidently say that all of our immersion teachers are growing in their knowledge of best practice in the world of immersion instruction and this is a huge focus at ZCS. In addition to the normal professional development expected of all teacher, our teachers are on a 5-year trajectory towards the add.a.lingua immersion teaching certification. Our first group of twelve teachers will graduate this year! All of our teachers begin their first three years of teaching by doing 15 hours of immersion-specific training in the summer and then follow this up with 6 more hours of learning throughout the school year (all provided by add.a.lingua). After that, add.a.lingua guides us in the implementation of learning labs which gets teachers into others’ classrooms and guides them in deep discussion and reflection on observed lessons. I can confidently assure you that our immersion team is made up of lifelong learners who are continually striving to become better teachers!
