Week #11

¡Queridos Padres!

We had an amazing time with grandparents on Friday! I hope you all had enjoyed the pictures. Report cards will be posted by Friday, November 6, 2018.

In Technology class, first graders are starting a new unit about internet safety.  We will be learning about and practicing topics like using ABC glossary searches, how emails travel, and what to do when someone is mean online. (A message from Mrs. Soterbeek technology teacher).

Grace & Peace;

Maestra Ruiz

From the immersion program director
Where can I learn more about immersion education?
In addition, to add.a.lingua’s parent site and blog which many of you have joined (http://addalingua.com/parent), the CARLA website gives a plethora of options for learning more about immersion (http://carla.umn.edu/immersion/). This is the website for the Center for Advanced Research on Language Acquisition which is a resource for immersion educators around the world. The U.S. Department of Education funds 9 language resource centers, and this is the one that focuses on immersion education. While much of the site is geared towards professional educators, parents can also glean great research-based information and tools from the portion of this site that is directed towards parents.
Book it!
The Pizza Hut Book It reading calendar will be sent soon! Check your child’s communication folders. The program runs from October thru March.
