Dear parents,
We had a great first week of school! We spent last week building classroom community and setting up learning routines. This week, we will continue reinforce the routines. I am really excited to get to know your kids a little bit. I am looking forward to a great year with your kids!

Information and Reminders:

Room Mothers: A big thank you to Abby Allen and Dana Moeller to be our room mothers this year!

Library: Our library time is every Tuesday at 1:00pm. We will start library this week, students will bring a book home. The book can be checked out for two weeks. Please remind your child to bring the book back to school on Tuesday mornings if he/she wants to check out a new book.

Field Trip: Thursday, September 28 DeGraaf Nature Center at 9:30am. We will leave school at 8:55.

Worship songs: We will learn a worship song in Mandarin each month. You can find the video on my blog under worship songs.

Curriculum

Language Arts
We will continue learning basic classroom language and working on recognizing our Chinese names. We will also start learning basic strokes in Chinese to prepare for writing Chinese characters in a couple of weeks.

Math
We will learn about relate objects and numbers through 5; draw scenes of 2 and 3; counting and arranging through 5

Science
We will learn about five senses and body parts related to them. We will also learn about basic colors, shapes and sizes

Bible
Creation days 1 and 2; creation days 3 and 4
We will learn about the fruits of the sprit throughout the year. For the next few weeks, we will learn about the fruit of love.
