Please finish and send your child’s package the week before your child’s special week. During your child’s special week, it is a wonderful opportunity to have lunch with your child, bring in pets, and or share special talents your family members may have been blessed with. Just inform me ahead of time what is your plan.

Gymnastic Fieldtrip: Friday, Jan. 26 10:00-11:00am All students should bring a sack lunch for that day just in case we do not have enough time to get hot lunch. Please help your kids dress comfortable clothe for the field trip. No jeans please!

From the immersion coordinator
Spread the word! On January 18 Zeeland Christian will open it’s doors for our first showcase event. This will be an evening for perspective families to learn about Zeeland Christian School. There will be sectionals for parents of incoming preschoolers, kindergarteners, and 1st-8th graders as well as time dedicated to learn about Spanish and Mandarin immersion, Inclusion, and School-home collaborative. Curriculum
Language Arts
Reading Strategies: using the pictures to help us decode. When we encounter a new word, we check the picture to see if it gives us clues.
Writers’ Workshop:
We will begin a new unit about pattern books. Next week we will spend time reading some mentor texts and write a class book together.
Math
We will learn about part/part whole relationship and addition.
Science
We will start a new unit called God’s Earth. We will learn about earth has land and waters.
Bible
We will go back to the old testament. We will continue learning about the stories of Joshua: the sun stands still.
We will learn about the fruits of the sprit throughout the year. For the month of January, we will learn about the fruit of kindness.
Social Studies
We will focus on science for the next couple months.
