Happy Valentine’s Day!

Information and Reminders:

Our gymnastic field trip is rescheduled to Tuesday, February 19. 10:00-11:00am   We will leave school at 9:20am and come back to school around 11:30.  Please pack a sack lunch for your child just in case we won’t have time to get hot lunch. This field trip ties to our science curriculum—Kindergarten in Motion. Thank you to Kristi Van Dyk, Brooke Oldenbroek and Becky Haveman for driving the field trip!

Please finish and send your child’s package the week before your child’s special week. During your child’s special week, it is a wonderful opportunity to have lunch with your child, bring in pets, and or share special talents your family members may have been blessed with. Just inform me ahead of time what is your plan.  

Each student is encouraged to bring in $5.00 to cover the food cost of Chinese New Year field trip. Thank you for those who already turned it in!

March conference is optional this year. If you like to request a conference, the sign up begins on Feb. 20. I would be really appreciate if you sign up early(on or after Feb.20) if you plan to meet. Please sign up by Friday, Feb. 22 if possible. Thank you!

Curriculum

Language Arts

Reading Strategies: Read the tones correctly for each character. We use visual and gestures to help us say the tones correctly. 

Writers’ Workshop:

We will continue writing our own pattern books this week. 

Math

We will take about part part whole relations. We will learn math partners under 10. 

Science

We will learn about earth is made of many things: water, sand, pebbles and soil are four examples of materials that make up the Earth’s land mass. 

Bible 

We will learn about Jesus’ ministry:Jesus and his disciples; Jesus blesses children; Jesus teaches about prayer. 

We will learn about the fruits of the sprit throughout the year. For the month of February, we will learn about the fruit of patience. 

Social Studies

We will focus on science for the next couple months.
