Lost in Love

“This is Love: Not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins. Dear friends, since God so loved us, we also ought to love one another.

1 John 4:10-11

Are you lost? Well, this year our theme is Lost in Love. It took us two days with prayer and talking together as a grade to figure it out with God. This year we will be practicing how we can love in different ways. It doesn’t take much, just have to look around you.  We can show our theme, Lost in Love, to others in our school and to people in the world.

There are many ways to show this theme at school. One way you can show this theme is by your actions. Your actions can speak louder than your words. When you show love to someone, don’t do it with just your actions, but also with your attitude. If you are doing something nice for someone like holding the door open, but your attitude stinks, you’re not showing love.  Another way we can show love is being respectful. That is one of our goals for 8th grade. Our class can work on loving our teachers and listening to them and respond good to what they say. One other way we can show love is interacting with the younger grades. When we smile or wave at a younger student, that will make their day. They go home and tell their parents that an 8th grader smiled at them. We can make people’s day because we are the highest in the school and we go out of our way to wave or high five a 1st grader.

There are a lot of ways we can show love to the world. One way is with the hurricanes. A lot of people lost their homes and some lost their loved ones. We are here in Michigan with a nice school to go to and a home where our families are. We could raise money to send to Florida or Texas to help people that don’t have enough food, water, or even a home. We can also show love to the world by mowing our neighbors lawn without asking. Or picking up sticks without asking. Or bringing dinner over if they are going through a hard time. It’s not hard to show someone love if everyone you knew has shown you love. One other way to show love can be by being a friend to those who don’t have friends and those who don’t show love to you back. Because those who don’t show love probably has never been loved before. Maybe their family doesn’t show love to them, or their school. But if we starting loving people who have never been loved before, they can change into a whole new person. And we can as well. Hurt people, hurt people. Loved people, love people.

We can show our theme, Lost in Love, to others in our school and to people in the world. I think Lost in Love is a perfect theme for our class. We can practice this theme right here in our community and right now.
