Volcano Project

We made our volcano out of play-do. We had the play do stacked up to the neck of the pop bottle, but the play do slowly moved down. We had 10 things labeled. we then painted it red to simulate lava. We added a hot spring to it. We also had dried clay to rep. a bad town.

God’s Preparation

I thought that I wanted to be a chef because I like food, but I started to realize that When I have to cook something, I don’t want to do it. So then I started talking with my parents about shadow day, and they said something about accountings, I thought I might like that because I like Math, I’m good at it, but not the best. They knew a friend who is an accounting so I decided to job shadow her so I can see what its like to be an accounting. If I like accounting then I can set my carrier line on accounting, and if I dislike it, I’ll look for what else I might like.

Spagetti Tower

What went well was that it was able to hold the egg. What did not go right was our cradle was made too small. My favorite part was the test. Least favorite part was when Matthew refused to work because Braden was sick.

Ideal Church vs Early Church

This week in bible class we talked about our Ideal church and the early church. In our ideal church we want comfy chairs, food, and TVs, but in the early church they wanted to be together and have communion.

I think we want in our ideal church the totally opposite wanted in the early church.

Math Project

This was a fun project, altho I would rather work on normal math. Braden is my partner, and he came up with the idea of a ramp and we put together the idea of building a ramp over the Mississippi River for Evel Knievel, we had to change measurements, but it all came together. We built a 3D model of the ramp, altho it’s scaled down. Everything seemed to fit into place.

Thematic Essays

The book I am writing about is The Maze Runner  written by James Dashner. I really liked this book because there was always something going on even in the beginning of the book. I read this book pretty fast, within a week, because it was such a good book. The theme that I think is “That There is Always a Way out if you work together.”

I think this is the main theme so I’ll tell you about a part in the book. They are sitting in the glade looking at the map of the maze trying to find out. After them looking at it they discover a code. Then they got the code and it says 6 words, I think.

You think that’s it? well it’s not, I got more. Thomas and Minho are searching and they find grievers so they follow them and discover there way in is there way out. They threw rocks and they come with the conclusion that it’s an invisible way out above a massive cliff and they aren’t so sure about it.

HA! Guess what, there’s more. After they discovered those things they prep for a battle to get out. When they kill all the grievers by typing in a code a exit opened. The way out was a massive slide. Little did they know there’s more for them to do.

“There’s always a way out if you work together.” This was one of my favorite books and there’s three books after this one. I see this theme pretty clear because they get out of a massive maze with killing machines, or monsters, who knows.

Carbon Cycle

carbon_cycle_1

We had to do a cycle and we were assigned Carbon. What goes on is Carbon dioxide is in the air and it moves on to a plant. Then the plant will make it carbon and a animal will eat it. Once the animals die the carbon goes in to the air or turn into fossil fuel. When it is in the air we breath it in and breath out Carbon Dioxide. Auto and factory emissions also give out carbon dioxide.

Descriptive Writing

The suitcase card reminded me of when I went camping. This summer I went camping at Tri-Ponds. While we were there there was 2 out of 10 days we could go to the pool.

The ground around our campers was super muddy. The mud was like a swamp where your foot sinks half a foot. They have a pond where you can swim and I swam in the chilly water with my friends, they had a raft we could go on.

The American flag card reminds me of when I went to the Mall of America In Minneapolis. Two summers ago I went to minnesota, and when we are there we need to go to the Mall of America. The mall has 4 floors a theater on the 4th floor, a lot of restaurants on the 3rd, and mostly stores on the others. The mall is pretty loud, mostly because there are rides in the middle and there’s a lot of people. My sister say the American girl store, After looking the whole morning, then she wanted to leave, so my brother, Dad, and sister went to the hotel and I stayed and walked around the mall with my mom. We found my uncle and cousin and then we left after looking around.

The ladder card reminds me of when I was on the 50th floor of a building. Two summers ago I went to Minneapolis because my mom’s cousin was getting married. The reception was on the 50th floor of a building in downtown Minneapolis. The view up there was cool it’s like You are seeing a new movie, you could see pretty much everything. Saddly it was foggy out or else we could see more of Minneapolis.

Theme Writing

Therefore Everyone Who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man  who built his house on the rock. The rain came down, The streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house: yet it did not fall, because it had its foundation on the rock.

 Matthew 7:24-25.

Last year we went to a camp where we picked the theme verse for this year. Our theme this year, “Built on the Rock”, means a lot to me as both an 8th grader at ZCS and as a Christian in the world.

Being an 8th grader means to me that we are leaders and we need to act like leaders. Being and 8th grader may be hard because there prepping us for high school. The little kids are looking at us we need to set a good example. We also may have a lot of fun. It also means we need to write papers like this one.

Being a christian means to me that I need to be friendly to other people. It means that I/we need to be the good examples in the world. I need to favor this school because next year I won’t go to a christian High school:(. I need to pay more attention in church because I could use it in the future.

I’m looking forward to 8th grade this year because it’s my last year. I think we picked a good theme this year, it could be useful.

New Addition

I like the new Addition’s A/C. I also like the sliding glass walls. I think this is a more modern school. It has 13 classrooms I was told. I also like the faucets in the bathrooms we don’t a bucket like thing.

African Union Day

We did an African Union day and we resolved conflict in Burundi, not really but we used it as the example. We were put in groups and was assigned a country. As that country we tried to come up with a resolution for the conflict.

I think the fact that the other group can pick out mistakes in your idea and argue until they get stopped is pretty significant. My favorite thing was the arguing going on and how we can pick the smallest things to argue about. I wish we had more time to argue, and we did something special in the after noon. Because after words in the after noon it was different, It felt boring and full of short classes.

Invictus Responce

How all the blacks disliked the springboks because it represented apartheid. The blacks wanted to remove the Springboks, But Nelson didn’t want to do it, he didn’t want to be what the whites feared. How Mandela fixed it was using the rugby world cup. The Springboks worked hard and beat the awkward dancing New Zeelanders, and the other teams.

Africa

The fact that when we see black people, we think they are from Africa but its not really. The fact that a lot of people in South Africa have cell phones is surprising. The very low number of people who have internet surprises me too.

Poems

Boredom

Boredom is as blank as a piece of paper.

It sounds like you’re in a soundproof room.

It taste like a dried up lake.

And smells like a rotten egg.

Boredom looks like a ghost town.

It makes you feel horrible.

Daddy dingo.

This is daddy Dingo.

it lives in dirty dorm in detroit.

it eats dirt, dogs, and dads.

It likes Dodgeball, driving a dodge and daddying.

It dodges drivers, and daddying baby dingos.

The daddy dingo dodged my darts and darted away.
