Camp Reflection Day

Today we spent time at Faith Church to reflect on our experience at camp last fall. We drew pictures based on a bible passage and wrote on the back about it. Here is the text part that I did.

Who am I?

I drew a world because when God created it, it was new. I am like that because in 2 Corinthians 5:17, it says if I am in Christ, the old is gone, the new has come, I am a new creation!

Who are We?

I drew a path with light because if we walk in Jesus’ light we will be purified from all sin. I got this from 1 John 1:7. It means if we walk in the light, like Jesus, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus,His son, then Jesus will purify us from all sin. I know that my Christian community (church, school, friends, etc.) will help me through hard times.

Who is He?

I drew a picture of a pit and God pulling me from it because when I’m sad or hurting, God pulls me out and gives me peace and comfort. Psalm 103:4a- Who redeems your life from the pit…I have not gone through a specific hard time, but God helps me through small things.

Reflection:

I liked Mrs. Zastrow’s story about when she went through hard times in life. First her mom died of Leukemia, then her sister was kidnapped and killed by a drug-addicted person, and then her father in law died. It really touched me how she is still such a happy person when she went through such hard things. She was able to get through these things because of her Christian community. They helped her a lot through those difficult times. I have attached a few pictures of the drawings I drew.

Density Lab

We have been working on density in science. Here is a question I am investigating.

Density Lab Blog Post:

1. Explain what you did in the density lab and explain why the property of density determines whether an object will sink or float.  Also explain how can an two objects of the same size have different densities.

If the density is higher than water’s density(1g/ml), the object will float and if the density is lower than water it will sink. Two objects of the same density can sink or float. For example: Diet Coke and Mountain Dew. The Mountain Dew sinks and the Diet Coke floats. This is because Diet Coke has no real sugar in it and Mountain Dew does have sugar in it. This means that things of the the same exact size and shape can be different densities because of the materials it is made of. For example, a pencil and a pen. A pen might float and a pencil might sink. They are almost the same size and shape but they are different densities.
