African Union Day

African Union day was a day where we talked about and debated what to do in the situation in Burundi. Burundi had a Civil War for a while between the Hutus and the Tutsis. It ended up killing more than 300,000 people. We debated on what we should do to solve the problem, or if we shouldn’t do anything. We wrote those ideas on a resolution. We had people read them and try to get there countries signature on our paper.

Before we got into this day I felt really unprepared, but when it started I got into it and it was actually really fun. My favorite thing was debating between what we should do between the two resolutions.

I am glad we did this with a person from our country instead of by our selves. Something I would like to change about this is debating longer. We ended with unanswered questions so a lot of people were confused or mad.

Invictus Response

I think the security guards got closer from before because of the game Rugby. In the beginning they wouldn’t listen to each others Ideas or get along with each other because of the color of their skin. As the movie went on, they got closer. For example, they were playing Rugby in the lawn together, and they weren’t forced too. Also, at the end of the final, big game they shook hands and became a community. Everyone was jumping up and down and they didn’t care who they were by or talking too. One white guy hugged a black security guard.

The security guards were a good example for the community, because they worked together to protect the President. This brought the community together.
