Wind Erosion

unnamed-2

In science class we made models of different erosions. My group had wind erosion. We first had to look up what happening during wind erosion and look for at least seven different words that we different know before to use as vocabulary. Our seven words are ventifacts, loess, abrasion, via, creep, saltation, and suspension. Ventifacts are rocks that are formed in different shapes because of wind erosion. Loess are cliffs with jagged edges of rock that can be different sizes and it is formed be wind erosion. Abrasion is  the wind blowing through rock making it erode and grow smaller. Via is sand that has been moved by the wind and placed somewhere else and gets uplifted. Creep is big rock particles that are moved along the ground because of the wind. Saltation smaller pieces of rocks or pebbles that are moved or bounced along the ground because of the wind. Suspension is when very small rocks or pebbles get blown up into the wind and are taken somewhere else in the air. Once we got all of our words, we made a model of wind erosion in the desert. The picture above is our model. In the models we had to have mountains or hills, river or stream, valley or coastline. The model on the right is our before wind erosion and the model on the left is after wind erosion. After making our models each group presented their model of erosion and explained their seven vocabulary words.
