African Union Day! ( ᵔᴥᵔ)

1) What is/was the core problem of the situation in Kenya in your mind? The harsh effects of wavering economies driving refugees out of their countries and to Kenya. Kenya then essentially shot back with, “We don’t want them! Fix it!” and tried to push them to other countries, not realizing that most other countries couldn’t actually handle that because of economic/spacial reasons.

2) Do you feel like the problem(s) were addressed? Why or why not? Not properly. Really, not speaking from a biased angle, but the winning resolution had honestly nothing about fixing that situation. They just wanted to move the refugees out of their country and make a seemingly even larger country.

3) What did you enjoy the most about the debate/caucus? It gave everyone an opinion. I love heated debates, and this sounds awful, but I strongly enjoy disproving someone’s resolution or point. That’s incredibly satisfying. Everyone had a role that they played and everyone had a part in the resolution.

Boat Trip

THREE THINGS YOU LEARNED:

  • I learned that sediments AND nutrients have an effect in algae!
  • Turbidity is measured with a spectrophotometer!
  • pH is measured with a LOT.

TWO THINGS IT MADE ME WONDER:

  • Does the amount fish / creatures in a lake effect certain properties?
  • Do the amount of something in a lake affect the amount of fish?
