Got to Get them Deer

What stands out to me from the book is how long they kept the pearl when it was only bringing them bad things and evil.

I learned that if we hold onto our greed and let it take control we let evil take control and it makes us make bad choices and do wrong things that aren’t what we should and or normally do.

What I learned has helped me notice what things around me cause me to become greedy or what cause me to do bad things and made bad choices. Its also helped me to find and destroy the greed object in my life that can control what I do.

For my 8th grade shadow day I shadowed Steve Walters at Steve Walters Builders. During the day I went to a house near Allegan Michigan. At the house Steve had to replace a sliding door that was so rotted out I could stick my finger in it and pull out some wood because it was so rotted out.

If I could have anything in the world I would want a lodge, with an all sports lake, with hundreds of acres of woods located in northern Michigan and with the money I would need to keep it for as long as I live. At the lodge I would want to be able to go trail riding all day long and be able to go to where ever I wanted. I would also like to be able to go tubing and knee boarding at any time I wanted on the lake. I would constantly be in the woods trail riding on a quad  or on a snowmobile in the winter. I think if I were to have this I would never leave the lodge because it would have wildlife everywhere so I could live off the land and be closer to the outdoors. I would also probably never work a day of my life because I wouldn’t want to leave and I wouldn’t need the money. I would also want to have a bunch of rc stuff so that I could have something different to do every other day instead of just the same. The only problem I could see myself having if I could get what I want would be being lonely because I would never want to leave because I would be in my heaven on Earth.

On Thursday April 18, 2013 a mans body was found in the Grand River near GrandHaven, MI. Two Marine workers were clearing brush when they noticed a body floating down river. The two followed the body down stream a little ways because they thought it was a mannequin at first. When they were able to get a reach to the vehicle they took a pole and pulled in the body. Jeff Noel, one of the marine workers said that they have had a lot of interesting things float down river but never a body. Authorities said that the crime is not related to the GrandHaven area and that the male is white and was wearing a white T-shirt with a tattoo on his leg.

My thoughts are that killing some one alone is terrible but then to trough them into a river to try and get rid of the evidence is extremely disrespectful. If I were to have a family member killed and then find out their body was ditched in a river I would feel almost mad because I wouldn’t be able to give them a normal burial,

During the senate sessions I enjoyed that i had the power to show my opinion, such as vetoing a bill or passing it because I thought it would do our country well. I also enjoyed that I could be involved in all the government jobs because it made every part of my job different, some times I would meet with the Secretary of Treasury and next I would be meeting with the Secretary of Defense.

I learned that being in leadership is a hard task and that you need to be extremely organized to run an entire “country”. I learned that people in my class aren’t afraid to show there thoughts during the senate session and that it they don’t agree with something the vote to change it. I learned that being in government isn’t as easy as it looks and that it if someone doesn’t have what they need to success, you won’t succeed.

This shapes my future actions a lot because I know now that things aren’t as easy as they appear and that you can’t always expect everything to be done the right way at first. This government project that we have been doing makes me realize that keeping in touch with people that are important is a necessity because they can have a major affect.

My favorite part about the senate session was that everyone, except the president, had a say in what would and what wouldn’t happen such as passing a bill or redoing and entire bill. If we were to do this again I would change it to a better time where most of the senate is present and every one then can have a say in what we decide.

Some facts that surprised me about governments around the world:

– I learned that Brazil has 21 political parties and 26 states.

– Another fact is that Israel had spies in Australia and they didn’t know about it until a prisoner killed himself in jail.

– I also learned that Austria became an independent country on November 12,1918.

– An interesting fact is that Germany and Austria share the same national symbol, a black eagle.

Some ways that Brazil’s government is similar to the United States is that we both have a Federal Republic style government and that we both have a Chief of Staff, President and Vice President. Another simular fact is that both Legislative Branches are bicameral.

Volcanes

On Thursday February 7 House Democratic leaders proposed multiple new ideas on how to handle the current situation of banning assault rifles and extended magazines. After meeting with groups of gun violence victims, gun rights groups, enforcement officials and others the leader of the house Nancy Pelosi proposed a plan of 15 new principles that could affect the current situation with owning weapons. One of their plans is to make it legal to only hold 10 bullets of ammunition in each magazine. A magazine is the part of a gun that holds the ammunition. They also want to increase the amount of security background checks that limit being able to buy a weapon. After the Newtown shooting President Obama started to show concerns about gun control, even though during his first term we never heard anything about guns. As of this point in time no changes have been made to gun control.

My thoughts are that limiting the amount of ammunition a gun magazine can hold could be very helpful in minimizing the amount of shootings like the Newtown shooting, but I also think that if a criminal wants to get something, they can always find a way. I think that its also a great thing that people and government are starting to notice some of the flaws are nations security has.
