God at Work

In Bible we have been studying the life of Paul. Paul was a god-hater and hated Christians, and while walking down a Road to Damascus he was blinded by a light, and he was converted and changed his name to Paul. Paul was a tentmaker, he had a private tutor, and he had Roman citizenship.

God has been working in me by playing guitar at different places. I play guitar at School for Worship Team, at Church, and at Benjamin’s Hope, a place for people with disabilities who live their full time.

Paper-Mache Volcano

In Science, for the past week, we have been making paper-mache volcanoes. Me, Nate, and Luke DW modeled our volcano after Mt. Fuji. We will have Elephant Toothpaste exploding out of the top of our volcano. We worked very well together.

Christian Persecution PBL – Colombia

For the last couple weeks, we’ve been learning about Christian Persecution. Along with Luke DW, and Kaiden, and myself, we studied the country of Colombia. Here are some of the things we did at our booth.

  • We had a Keynote (which is included in this blog post) playing so people can learn about persecution in Colombia
  • We had questions that people can answer about Christian persecution in Colombia so that they can earn opportunities to throw ping pong balls into cups
  • We also had donations that went to the Voice of the Martyrs, and Christian persecution relief group.
  • We had cups that if you make a ping-pong ball into the cup, you would earn a piece of candy.

Pythagorean Theorem Project Reflection – Kaiden & Isaiah

Reflection from Project:

Tricker is at Hobby Lobby picking out a picture frame for a picture of him and his dog, Trooper. He is looking for a picture frame that is 8” x 10”, but he is looking for diagonal length. The Hobby Lobby Assistant, Amanda, doesn’t know what the length. Can you help Amanda to look for the diagonal length in inches of the picture frame?

  1. a2+b2=c2
  2. 82+102=c2
  3. 64+100=c2
  4. 160
  5. 164=c
  6. 12.8

8th Grade Theme Essay

8th Grade Theme Essay

This is love: not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins. Dear friends, since God so loved us, we also ought to love one another”

1 John 4: 10-11

During 8th Grade camp, it was super cool that we could talk about our theme verse around the campfire and talk about what it means to us as a class. We can show our theme, Lost in Love, to others in our school and to people in the world.

I can show this theme many ways at school. One way is by playing with someone who doesn’t have anyone to play with at recess, I could ask him he wanted to play basketball. Another thing is respecting our classmates and teacher’s opinions, even if we don’t agree with it, like in Social Studies when Queen (Mrs.) Roskamp says something and we don’t agree with, we can just keep our opinions to ourselves.  And the last thing is making sure we listening to one another when they are speaking, because there is a lot of that because people only care about themselves.

As Christians, we can also show this theme to the world. One way is helping other countries in relief effort if they are either in a state of dictatorship and are not getting enough resources or are affected by war. Another way is helping a state who has been effected by a natural disaster, like with donating money to help with both Hurricane Harvey and Irma. And the last thing is helping someone who is in spiritual needing, if they have been going through a hard time or just need God.

We can show our theme, Lost in Love, to others in our school and to people in the world. This we can do by doing multiple things at multiple places.

Boat Races

We had a couple pieces of styrofoam and some notecards, we didn’t have an official time because it flipped over due to many notecards

Some of the changes we made was remove the side notecards. That’s it.

We hope to have a good time, not necessarily come in first but get a podium boat.

What I Did this Summer.

Some of the things I did was I celebrated me and my sister’s birthday. She got some shoes and some money. For my birthday I got a GoPro and have been making very cool videos. And at the end of the year we went to my aunt and uncle’s cottage up north. We went boating and our cousin Chase drove us. We went jumping and pushing each other off the raft in the middle of the lake, and we also went fishing. We also celebrated me and my sister’s birthday with my mom’s side. I got Swerveball (kinda like a Blitzball) and a Couch Pouch, which deflated in two days. Sarah got these rocket things and also a Couch Pouch. And the rest of the time I had friends over went on bike rides and had fun!

Book Review – Five Presidents: My Extraordinary Journey with Eisenhower, Kennedy, Johnson, Nixon, and Ford

The book review I am doing it on is called  Five Presidents: My Extraordinary Journey with Eisenhower, Kennedy, Johnson, Nixon, and Ford by Clint Hill. This book is a biography. The setting takes place when former Secret Service Agent Clint Hill takes a job as former President Dwight D. Eisenhower’s agent, and goes on to help the next 4 presidents in keeping them safe.

The main character in this book is Clint Hill. He is probably most famously recognized as the agent who jumped on the motorcade to protect Jackie Kennedy after her husband, John, was shot by an assassin named Lee Harvey Oswald. He talks about remembering the day, August 4th, 1974 to be exact, when then-President Richard M. Nixon resigned from the Watergate Scandal.

There’s really not a plot, but Clint goes into detail on how each President in which he served treated him. When Kennedy was president, the President and the First Lady were always so nice and Clint remembers playing with Caroline and John Jr. (John-John), who is most famous for two pictures: Saluting when his fater’s casket comes, and peeking his head out of his father’s desk. He remembers always planning ahead of time for President Kennedy’s foreign trips to meet with world leaders, and Mrs. Kennedy always wanting to go shopping.

Overall, I give this book a 5 out of 5. This book depicts one man who didn’t know what was in store when he signed up for the job, and did a really good job. He will go down as a man who wanted to protect not just the President and the First Family, but everyone.
