Senate Session

For the past few weeks we have been doing jobs and going through our Senate session. For about a week we worked on our various jobs and doing them. Then after we were finished we had to presente to the Senate (our class). Over the course of the Senate session there were many different arguments, some good and some bad.

While I enjoyed the sessions I also got frustrated when it appeared that people didn’t care about our country and just wanted to do random things. Such as putting a buffalo on our flag. They didn’t even have a good reason they just wanted to mess around. Another example is that they wanted to name our country United Legs, just for the fun of it. One last example is that they wanted a pink sparkly flag. While all these ideas were voted down it was frustrating to listen to.

What I learned about our government is that there are people with differing opinions. We need to understand how to use those opinions to better our country. There are also people who are going to be difficult to listen to and work with but we just need to use those difficulties to inspire better ideas.

This shapes our future actions by letting us know that some people are going to try to change things but we need to listen to their ideas while also helping to have ours heard. We need to work together to make our country the best it can be.

Next time I would make a limit on amendments, so that we don’t have twenty with nineteen of them being unrealistic. My favorite part was the jobs it was exiting to learn about different jobs in government and collaborate with others on important issues.
