Theme Writing

This is love: not that we loved God but that he loved us and sent his son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins. Dear friends since God so loved us, we also ought to love one another.

1 John 4:10-11

Have you ever felt like you were so lost you didn’t even know which way was up, down, left or right? Well, this year everyone is going to get that feeling, they are going to be Lost in Love. That is the theme that we picked for the school year this year, Lost in Love. We can show our theme, Lost In Love, to others in our school and to people in the world.

I can show this theme in many ways at our school. One of the ways I cans show Lost In Love is by making sure that other kids in my grade or in younger grades are not alone. For example, if you see a kid from your family group who does not have anyone to play with, you can go over and say hi to them and just talk or throw a ball with them. Another way that you can show love to the kids in our school is by listening to them. If you are in family groups or small group and they have an idea for something, you should listen to them instead of just dismissing them because they are younger than you are. Sometimes it is because they are younger they may even have better ideas because they might have a wilder imagination than you do. Another way that I can show God’s love to the people at this school is just by paying attention to them. I remember when I was little I came home beaming one day because and eighth grader said hello to me BY MY NAME! I wanted to be just like the eighth graders then and I was so proud that they knew my name. That is just a few ways to show love to the people close to us and at our school.

As Christians we can also show this theme to the world. One way we can show people Lost in Love is by praying for them. Especially for the people who have been affected by hurricane Harvey and Irma. They have had so much bad stuff happen to them in the past couple of days and weeks. During Hurricane Irma they were talking about how it was going to be so

destructive and no house would be able to withstand the wind and water. So, Christians all around the world started to pray. “Please Lord, help those in Florida, don’t let it be as destructive as people are saying that it will be.” And guess what, it wasn’t! I know that about half of my friends and classmates either have grandparents who live in Florida or friends, or maybe they have a cottage there. They have been so nervous for a while about this, and so we pray. And we just hope that God will answer our prayers, and he does. We show Lost in Love this way by being subtle. We pray for the people there, and so they can feel our love for them and hope. Another way we as Christians can show Lost in Love is by actually going to them with our churches or friends. We have the ability to travel almost anywhere, except North Korea, and so what is stopping us? We can show love by going to places where maybe they don’t have food, or water. For example me and twelve other kids from Zeeland Christian’s eighth and seventh grade are going to the Philippines at the end of the year on a mission trip.  It doesn’t even have to be that far away. My sister went to Tennessee this summer to help a ministry there. You can even just go in your neighborhood and show them our love, and God’s. One more way to show Lost in Love to others is by listening to their stories. Some people have had something traumatic happen to them in their lives, whether it is being in New York during 9/11 or having to have heart surgery. I know how much people’s stories can be a burden to them. Last year during small groups we went to Mr. Minkus’ neighborhood and we listened to their stories. I could tell that by telling their stories they had a huge burden off their shoulders.

We can show our theme, Lost in Love, others in our school and people in the world. What I decided to write on this paper today is just a small fraction of what we can actually do to show love to one another. We can show people love just by loving one another. It is a domino affect you love them, and they will love one another, slowly, but surely.
