Should we celebrate Columbus Day?

Columbus Day presentation video

My opinion: We both did well at speaking loudly and clearly to the audience, and we tried to show our feelings and concerns to them. However, I did not look at the audience constantly. Usually I was looking at the paper.

Holy Spirit Project

Who is the Holy Spirit?

The Holy Spirit is part of the Trinity: Father, Son, and Holy Spirt. The Holy Spirt is harder to understand because the Father and Son similar to earthly people. The Holy Spirit is invisible and living in us. You receive it when you believe that Jesus is our Savior. It is our conscious saying what is right and wrong and prompts us to do good works. You can’t see it, yet it works inside of you (in your heart). The Holy Spirit can change your life and what you do. It can also impact how you relate to other people.

How does the Holy Spirit work in your life?

The Holy Spirit works in peoples lives in many ways. It will help us make the right decisions and make us feel guilty when we sin. It is the Holy Spirt is working in you when your trying to make a life time decision. God can speak to you through the Holy Spirt. It also prompts us to live out the fruits of the Spirt. It will lead us onto the right path, and can make a big impact on other people. The Holy Spirit works through us and makes us want to go on mission trips, help others, be a friend to everyone, etc. It also works through us when we feel close to God though music, prayer, and the Bible. How it is working in my life right now is its nudging me to do more personal devotions. Sometimes its hard to fit in devotions when I have a lot of homework, and then get home late from dance. I usually have devotions every morning, but the Holy Spirt is working in me and telling me I have to do it at night too.

Description of visual

I drew a picture of a “mosaic” rainbow. The reason why I chose a rainbow to represent Holy Spirt was for a couple of reasons. The Holy Spirt is like a rainbow because you don’t know where it’s going to go, but it always turns out beautiful. In John 3:8 it says: “The wind blows wherever it pleases. You hear its sound, but you cannot tell where it comes from or where it is going. So it is with everyone born of the Spirit.” The same holds true with a rainbow. You can’t always see the affects of the Holy Spirt from every angle of a situation. God may revival himself only when we are willing to move toward him. When you see a rainbow you have to be at a good angle or perspective to fully see it. Just like with Noah, God sent a rainbow as a symbol to comfort them after the storm. The Holy Spirt is comforting to us after the storms of life.

Chilean Government

I though it was weird how the government (in 1974) started taking people, and their families have no idea where they had gone. In the articles we read about it said that many went missing, and we still don’t now what happened to them today. I didn’t find, in the articles, any information about the how this relates to the US, but I did find that an ambassador was killed in the US by a car bomb in Washington DC. They don’t think that it has anything to do with the politics in Chille.

One story was of a girl (lady) that was just minding her own business in her friend’s house. People came to the door wondering where her husband was. She told them, but they started beating her up, and then took her. Later they took her husband too. I don’t know why these people think that they can take people.

I wonder why these people took others, and if they will ever find the people that were missing.

Dia de los Muertos

Dia de los Muertos is when people celebrate the good things in the people that died. We rote a name of someone that we knew who died on a slip of paper, then on the back we rote something good about that person. Then we put a toothpick in between the paper and taped it. Then we stuck it in the sand.

I think Dia de los Muertos is good that we remember people in the past, but it made me feel a little bit “creepy” thats its on Halloween. I wonder if people go put flowers by the grave, or if they decorate it, or what? Is Halloween aslo celebrated with it, Or is it just Dia de los Muertos?
