Theme 8- Slide to Destruction

Israel worshiped baal and they take advantage of the poor. Then Israel is enslaved and tortured. Israel cries out to God and he sends a prophet or judge to guide them back to God. This cycle continues for a while until eventually the prophet that comes is Jesus. This visual is of the cycle that Israel takes and goes on until Jesus comes. This theme means to me that God wants to protect us but we have choices to make and they can lead to bad things. If we do get lead to bad things then we should cry out to God to help us.

Theme 7- Something is Rotten

The Israelites were worshipping baal because Ahab, the king at that time, was making them. Elijah was the prophet that the Lord sent to guide the Israelites to God. The Israelites were scared at that time that Ahab would do something bad if they worshiped God. Some of them tried to worship God and got killed. My visual fits with the theme because the Israelites were rotting by worshiping baal. To me this theme means that we need to worship and trust him so then we will be saved and not rot away.

Theme 6- Symbol of a Lamp

God made a covenant to David that his line would continue forever. God fulfilled that covenant by sending Jesus. He came and died so that we wouldn’t have to pay for our sins and die right away. He made David’s line continue forever. My visual fits with the theme because Jesus died for us by the cross so that we would be saved. Jesus is the Flashlight that lights our way and to heaven. This visual means to me that God will help us through things and light our paths.

Theme 5- Salute to the King

imgres-2

God wanted a king that would lead Israel back to him. Israel wanted a king that would be military leader. God’s vision of a king, a Nagid, is a king that helps people follow and connect with God. Israel’s version of a king, a Malek, is a military leader. My visual fits with the theme because God’s leader would serve and lead people to him. Israel’s leader would serve money and power. God wants us to follow him, not money or earthly belongings.

Theme 4- Sent to the Promised Land

imgres-1

The Israelites had to trust God as they were going to the promised land. On the way to the promised land the Israelites had to cross the Jordan. God lead them through the Jordan safely because they trusted him. God also lead them to Jericho and he conquered it for them. In my visual the person is about to fall but someone is helping him. He is trusting him to hold on and help, so he doesn’t fall. This theme means to me that we need to trust God and cross our Jordans. We need to let God take our fears, our Jordan, and help us through them.

God is present in struggles. He will be there and will help everyone through their struggles. Anyone can chose to have him help you, but some people don’t realize that and don’t ask him to help. God was present in Egypt and made a plan to save them and it worked because God saves. My visual is handcuffs. If you’re caught up in trouble God will help you out. He is always with you. This theme means to me that we need to put our trust in God. If we are caught in a spiritual trap and we reach out to him he will eventually help us out of it.

Theme 2- Covenant

Theme 2-Covenant

imgres-3

A conditional covenant is a if/then agreement. The Sinai Covenant, when Moses went up the mountain, God said that if everyone obeys me you they will be my treasured possession. A modern day example would be like if someone said if you eat your food in under one minute I will give you it free. A unconditional covenant never can get broken. Only God can truly have an unconditional covenant. God loves us no matter what. If we mess up or do something bad he still loves us. My visual fits with the theme because when I think of a covenant I think of when God gave the ten commandments. This theme means that God’s love is an unconditional covenant. He loves us no matter what.

Theme 1- Names

imgres-2.

Names are very important. They can describe someone or what they are like. Most of the names in the old testament have strong meanings. El means creator king. Elijah therefore has El in it so it means my God is the Lord. My visual fits with the theme because YHWH means the relational God. When I think of names I think of God who gave the first names Adam and Eve. Names have a personal feeling to me, one reason is because I have one. They can tell who you are and they describe things about us.
