Hoy fui al sur y fue muy divertido. Primero, fui a un juego de fútbol con Taylor. Ella fue muy confundida porque no sabe nada de fútbol entonces cuando alguien en el otro equipo hice un gol, ella brinco de su silla y aplaudió. Ella no sabia que queríamos que los Rangers ganaron. Después fue el tiempo de mitad y, sin advertencia, los otros personas alrededor de nosotros lo convirtieron el estadio en una milonga. Todos empezaron a bailar el Tango, pero todo estaba bien porque nosotros sabemos como bailar esto. La unica cosa es, Taylor es horrible en bailando. Ella cayó en el campo de fútbol 11 veces. Después de que hicimos el tango, Taylor fue  para comprarnos comida, pero ella olvido que hablan español aquí entonces duró medio hora tratando de hablar al hombre que vende la comida. El juego empezó otra vez, pero yo regrese a la casa.

Cuando yo vivía en Poptropica, vivió en una casa grande con mi perricornio, Bon Qui Qui el 3°. Esto es un combinación de un perro y un unicornio. Cerca de mi, habia tres otras personas que no gustaron al Dictador Minkus, Libby, Cole, y Elise. Juntabamos cada día para planear como escapar al pais de Poptropica. Un día, el chance vinó y fuimos en frente del Rey minkus con nuestro plan de ir al Nuevo Mundo. El Rey creo lo que dijimos acerca de “encontrar dinero para usted, su honor.” hahahaha Fuimos al nuevo mundo, y nuestro pueblo va bien.

A character in the movie ‘Invictus’ that changed a lot is Francois Pienaar, the captain of the rugby team. In the beginning, he played with only white people and wasn’t a big fan of Nelson Mandela. Then, he got invited to go to have tea with Mandela and they started talking. Francois realized that Nelson Mandela was a nice person who cared about South Africa. This caused Francois Pienaar to realize that he should be supporting Mandela as president. I was impacted by the way that in very little time, Nelson Mandela managed to change a country’s perspective and solve their differences. In the end of the movie, black people and white people were cheering and celebrating together as one instead of separately in their own areas.

I learned a lot on the boat trip. I learned that you can test the water with basic equipment. It was cool how we got to learn about how the scientists do the testing. I liked how we got to test the  water and record it, so that they can use it in real life. I learned about how they test the water quality, color, and things like that. I got to test the alkaline level. It was cool that we did it, and it felt really science-ey.

Mi parte favorito de hacer el Union Africana fue hablar de algo que realmente es importante a nuestro mundo y que realmente esta pasando. Yo creo que esto es buen uso de nuestros habilidades a ver una problema y pensar en una respuesta. Yo aprendí que aunque todos dicen que vas a hacer malo, todavía puedes ganar contra todo. Yo aprendí que todos pueden cambiar sus mentes si dices la cosa necesaria, y no importa que ellos dijeron antes. Tambien creo que personas van a hacer lo que ellos piensen que es bueno y mejor. Yo creo que ahora debemos tomar un desfile a Africa y hablar al Union Africana de lo que deben hacer sobre las problemas como Mali, porque lo mas tiempo que tomamos, la mas personas van a murir. Tambien creo que nosotros debemos hacer otro actividad así el proximo año, porque es muy divertido.

My impression of Africa before this morning was basically safari and what I learned from watching ‘The Lion King’ which, while being very interesting, doesn’t really cover Africa. That’s like saying that America is only fat people. There are probably millions of people in Africa, thousands of different languages, and hundreds of different cultures. They are just as unique as we are, which means we really can’t learn about them as individuals, but we can understand a bit more about them as cultures, nations, and even as a whole continent. It is really sad that there are millions of little kids in Africa that will grow up without parents or families to love and surround them. Some of our family’s friends adopted to kids from Africa. I think that it is really cool that there are people in America who have so many extra resources who are giving to help orphanages on the pother side of the world. Even though there really are lions and safaris, there is so much more to Africa than that. The amount of diversity there is incredible. In South Africa alone, there is like every culture of people  from all over the world. I also didnt realize the number of people who don’t go to school there was so big and sad. I whis they all had a chance to come to the USA and start a new life.

Querido padres,

Espero que sus vivas se van bien. Es necesario que tomamos una vacación este año. Yo quiero que lleguemos a Costa Rica lo mas pronto que es posible. Quiero que tenemos lo mas tiempo posible para hacer todas las cosas divertidas y unicas que puedes hacer en San Jose. Puedes ir en paracaidismo y cosas animados como esto. Puedes ir en la selva exoticá para ver a los loros, leopardos, serpientes, insectos, monos, lagartos, plantas, ocelot, pirañas, iguanas, ardillas, ranas, y palos. Hay tantos cosas que puedes ver. Tambien podemos ir y relajar en la playa ó ir a ver uno de los volcanes. Yo creo que sera una experiencia educativo.

El razón porque hay conflicto sobre el uso de la selva es porque algunas personas quieren ayudar a la economía de Brasilia pero otras personas quieren proteger la biodiversidad en la selva. Yo estoy de acuerdo que necesitan una economía bueno pero yo creo que es mas importante que protegemos las casas de miles de animales. Hay mas maneras para hacer dinero que solo cortar arboles. Los caucheros hacen dinero también, y ellos no dañan al ambiente.  Sin los arboles, no tendremos oxígeno. Si no tuvimos oxígeno, moriríamos. Las plantas son muy importantes que personas realizan. Yo creo que será muy chevere a ir a la selva porque hay demasiados típos de animales.

The past few day in science, we have been experimenting with eggs. First we put the eggs in vinegar. This caused the shells to dissolve which meant the eggs felt like waterballoons when you held them. Next we rinsed it off and left it overnight in an empty cup to test whether any air would get through the outside. Nothing happened. This relates to cell membrane because cell membrane is permeable which means only certain things get through and only some things got through the outside
