Story of Hope

The story about how God provided a ram for Abraham is a story of hope. This story sticks out to me the most because it shows that God will provide for us and that He is good.  Just when Abraham was ready to sacrifice his only son, God stopped him.  God provided a ram for Abraham to sacrifice instead.  God is good and He is with us even when things feel hopeless. Right now I am feeling hopeless because of all of this dumb, online schoolwork.  God is giving me hope by letting us be able to go outside in the good weather and by seeing all the trees starting to turn green.  I know that the end is in sight!

Friday blog

  1. What did you learn or think about the most this week from our theme “The Psalms teach us to sing praise to God.” Was there a phrase from a Psalm that stood out? What praise do you sing to God right now? Respond with at least 5 complete sentences.
I learned that we can sing praise to God by singing, listening to music, listening to nature, looking at nature, and just by being ourselves.  A phrase that stood out to me in Psalm 8:1 is “how majestic is your name in all the earth.”  It stood out to me because it reminded me of the picture in the book.  The picture shows a lot of colors and majestic animals and they are all praising God.  I sing praise to God right now by praying to Him and thanking Him for life.
  2. Tell a story about a time that was difficult this week. What happened? Were there things that comforted you at all? Use at least 5 complete sentences.
Being in quarantine has been difficult this week.  I can’t do all the things I want to do, like hang out with friends.  I miss seeing all of my friends at school.  Doing Facetime with some friends has helped a little bit.  Texting and keeping up with friends has been helpful as well.

  3. Tell a story about something this week that you were proud of. What happened? Who was a part of making it happen? Use at least 5 complete sentences. I am proud of getting all my work done.  My dog, Oliver helps me by giving me emotional support and coming to wake me up every morning. He comes in my room and licks my face.  My mom has helped me get through me work.  She also helps keep me on track.

Psalm 61

Psalm 61

What verse(s) stood out to you? Why?

I liked the first verse because I know God is always listening to my prayer.

What image do you see when you think of that verse?

I see someone praying on their knees.

What “artistic position” would you draw for this Psalm?

I would draw someone praying on their knees.

What could you connect from your life with that Psalm (could be before covid19 or after it)?

No matter what is going on in our lives, God will be there for us and we can call out to HIm.

What do you notice about God in this Psalm?

God is our protector and He watches over us.  He is like a strong tower.  He listens to our prayers.

Is there a song or tune that fits with this Psalm?

How does this Psalm talk about listening to God?

This Psalm talks more about God listening to us when we are in trouble and need help.  We can to Him anytime and He is a refuge for us.

  1. Describe a time or times when you were kind since we shifted to online learning. Describe a time when someone has been kind to you since we shifted to online learning.

I have been helping people finish their work when they don’t know what to do.  I took my little brother on a bike ride and we had a good time.  People help me figure out where stuff is and help me with my work too.  My mom has been helping me do my work.  Teachers have also been helping me and encouraging me.

  1. Describe the activities that you are doing to help pass the time once your homework is finished. Possible examples-bike riding, painting, board games, puzzles, texting friends…

When I’m not doing my work, I have been keeping up with friends.  I have been going on bike rides and going on runs.  Also, I have been playing some video games and watching The Amazing Race with my family.  I like to drive my quad.  I have been eating and sleeping too.

blog reflection

1. How have you experienced God lately? How are you praying to see God’s presence in the world? 5 complete, detailed sentences
I have experienced God through the sunset and by being outside.  When I was in Arizona, I went outside at night and saw a lot of stars in the sky.  There were so many. It was amazing out there because we were in the middle of nowhere and the stars were more visible.  I am praying for all the people who have Coronavirus.  I am praying for healing and full recovery for them.
2. Describe a time when you were playing outside since the “Stay at Home” went into effect. What did you do? What was the weather like? How did the outside time make you feel? 5 complete, detailed sentences
We went on a hike up a big hill in Arizona.  At first, it was downpouring rain on us.  Then after awhile it cleared up and turned sunny.  The temperature was around 65-70 degrees.  The outside time made me feel good and gave me some exercise.  It was a lot of fun!
3. Describe one highlight and one “low-light” since your last blog post. 5 complete, detailed sentences.
sure to read the comment your teacher left for you after your first post during online learning.
A highlight has been being home again after going away to Arizona.  Also, I learned how to do a backflip on the ground.  A low-light has been doing school at home.  It is boring and it’s tough to do it online.  Another low-light is not being able to see my friends.
