The Nitrogen Cycle

The nitrogen cycle is very important in life. Nitrogen is in the air, plants, the soil, animals and even you(the person reading this)! When it’s in the air, it can go through a process called Fixation and turns the nitrogen into ammonium. Then it changes into nitrates by nitrification. Next is when plants take the nitrates into their roots, also known as Assimilation. During this and the next phrase, animals can eat the plants. Ammonification is when a plant or animal dies and decays, turning the nitrogen back into ammonium. Denitrification is when nitrogen in the soil goes into the air.
