Explorer Day

On Explorer Day, (Oct.31, 2013) my group presented to King John of Portugal. My explorer I researched was Afonso de Albuquerque. He was a an important part in the making of the Portugese sea empire. He was born in 1460 and died in 1515. He was a Portugese solider and an explorer. We asked the king to grant us permission to sail to India. We asked for many supplies. He gave us everything we asked for. Thank you King John!

GO

“Therefore GO and make disciples of all nations…”

This the theme for this school year. I like this theme because it is easy to understand so the kindergardeners can understand it. To go make disciples seems hard but it is not as hard as you think. GO make disciples, please.

Mrs. Genzink

So, my last article was about Ellie and her cancer. This one is about Mrs.Genzink and her cancer.I know some of you had Mrs.Genzink for preschool so you know her well. My brother had her. I wish all this sickness would just VANISH into mid-air. Ellie has cancer, and Mrs.Genzink has cancer. Pray for Mrs.Genzink.  PRAY! It’s very important. My prayers are with you both.

Ellie

Ok this is hard to explain so I will try my best. So my Mom’s consin’s daughter is in the hospital right now with cancer. They don’t know what cancer as of right now. Her parents set up a blog for her. (In one of the pictures on the website you can see my grandpa.) Please pray for her. She is only 5 years old. She is really sick.

Pitch

The day was here. In the morning, as I curled up on the couch, waiting for my waffles to be done, my dad came up to me, put out his knuckles and said, “You’re going to rock it.” “I know,” was my reply.

We walked in, hours later. We stepped in and started. We forgot to do a Christianity thing. I felt horrible. But I didn’t have long to. They started asking questions, some I barley have the answers to. It was over soon enough. We walked away with $35 and 10% intrest. I was very happy with our decision. I NEVER want to do that again.

Going to J’s Again with Dad is Fun

By: Sarah Kass

Many people don’t realize that it is important to have time with their dad, but I’ve come to realize it is, and I do it at J’s Again. Going to J’s Again with Dad is fun.

Going to J’s Again with Dad is fun because *We get “Daddy-Daughter” time. For example, one time the room where we normally sit was full. So we had to sit in the other room. When you walk in, you see a sort-of wide doorway, then a sign that either says: “Please Seat Yourself” or “Please Wait to be Seated.” Then there is another “doorway.” Through that “doorway” is another room. That room has two TVs. The TVs usually have the news on. We usually sat and ate in the first room, the one without the TVs. But that day, that room was full, so we had to sit in the other room. It was nearly empty. We took a booth right under a TV. Now we sit there almost every time.

I interviewed Mr. Bouman about going to J’s Again with his daughters. I asked him why he did it. He said it was because he didn’t see them much. The reason: both were very busy. He also said it was because he wanted to know what they were thinking and doing. He said they did it before the busy day started. I asked him if he enjoyed it. He said he did.
He said it was because he got

one-on-one time with them. Out of four girls he did with his last two: Kim and Becky.

Going to J’s Again with Dad is fun because *It gives us a yummy breakfast. Proof of this is I always get the same thing: two eggs, scrambled, with white toast, and a side of bacon. Dad gets this every time: omelet with swiss cheese, bacon and ham. He adds pepper to the top with white toast, hash browns, and bacon. We almost always bring home bacon for Mom and Sam. The first time I got that, I loved it. “This is really yummy,” I said. Before this I either got a pancake or french toast with powdered sugar. The next time I got french toast, but the next time I got eggs and the other stuff. Now, I only get my regular breakfast.

I surveyed my class, and out of 29 people, only 16 people answered. Out of that 16, 12 people said yes. I interviewed 10 people of those 12. My original question was “Do you like J’s Again breakfast?” Pancakes were a favorite by far, 5 likes! 2 people liked waffles and 2 other people liked omelets. One of those waffle people was Colin, and he likes a large waffle with strawberries and whipped cream on top. With one of those pancakes of Kennedy’s, she likes toast. Jacob likes french toast and bacon. Weston likes pancakes and eggs. Hunter likes pancakes and sausages.

Going to J’s Again with Dad is fun because *I get to know really cool people that work there. For as long as I can remember, Gloria has gotten our drinks. Gloria is a worker there. She’s really friendly. One day, though, she didn’t come and get our drinks. I was worried. Was she sick or was she in the kitchen or was she just not working that day? We never found out, but if I’m right, she was in the kitchen. I asked my dad, “Is it cool to know people that work there?” His answer was yes. He said it was because he can walk in and they will know what he wants. Also, he has gotten to know them better over the years, and them him. A lot of people have worked there for 15 years or more!

I’ve been going to J’s Again for years, and I believe me and my dad’s relationship has gotten stronger because of this. Will you try it?

Three-school Buddies

Sledding is awesome, with little kids it’s even better.

I love to make new friends and I love little kids, like my cousins and kids younger than 5. Being able to make friends with them is awesome.

I also love meeting people, no matter what age, and meeting little kids is meeting people.

Finally, when you’re going down you can hear laughing and/or screaming. Either way, I feel like I need to hug them.

I love to sled and I love little kids, so sledding with them is a perfect fit, for me.

Family

I loved researching about my ansesters! My great-great- great grandfather came here in the 1830s. I love history, and ansestery is history. Most of my ansesters came from the Netherlands. Even my uncle came in 1948 from the Netherlands! Family history is fun to research!

TESTING!

TESTING!

We hopped off the bus and ran to the door. We were on a two week adventure in, wait for it, swimming lessons. Monday was testing day.
After I changed and showered, (kind of, just got wet), I sat on the bench. We lined up in numerical order. Ms. Heidi called our name and we swam freestyle across the pool. When it came my turn I had no clue what I was doing. I tried my best, but I don’t think I did very well.
After I did, in my mind, horrible, I stood waiting in line for what felt like 900 hours as cold as an ice burg. Then it was my turn for back stoke. Ms. Heidi told me I could do “real” back stroke arms or flutter arms. I chose flutter arms. I believe I did much better.
Then they made us do bobs. They were the worst thing in the history in the whole
world. She said to hold onto the gutter and breath through our noses. I took a breath and went under.
I blew bubbles out of my nose as fast as I could, in hopes that I could come up fast. I did, but then Ms. Heidi said to do 5, then 10. At first I was mad, but it was soon over.
Good bye (until tomorrow)!

1st Piano Performance Song

I hopped into the car on Monday, September 9, 2012.  It was 5:30.  We were going somewhere I’d been only once. Now, she was not only the leader of North Street CRC GEMS, but my piano teacher too.  I was nervous and excited at the same time.  Mom gave me the check and I ran in the door, (with the check).

I did most of the lesson then she put my performance book on the book holder thing.  Since there was two songs, I asked which one I was doing and she said, “We are doing ____In The Jungle____” We talked about if I should play it in high, low, or mediam tone. I played it in middle tone, but we agreed it would sound better in low tone.

Now Mrs. Blawkamp isn’t only a GEMS leader, but more importent then that, my piano teacher. To this day I’m on level 1. Mrs. Blawkamp is kind, no matter where we are. She is a great leader, she is the Head Counsuler at GEMS, and she is very organized. She is patient with me, she doesn’t rush things. The point is Mrs. Blawkamp is importent to me, in more ways than one.

More On Cubby

I can’t blog all the time, but when I do I think I will write a ton! So, like I said, I have a dog named Cubby. But what I didn’t write is that he is 2 1/2. I love him SO very much. His full name is Cubby Bear. He is wonderful. I love you Cubby! (Yes, I do know dogs can’t read!) I just love having a blog!
