Wave Erioson

For our project, we and Ally had wave erosion. The smaller one represents the before, which did not have the sandbar, island, headland, or the sea cave, ect. The before only mildly had waves hitting the mainland, which was flat and the same hight. We also had at the beginning a smaller island starting up to represent how it was forming. The after had a lot of vocabulary. Including; Barrier Islands which are  long ridges of sand or other sediment. They can be several kilometers wide and tens of kilometers long. They are very shallow bodies of water. The east coast has a very  long strip of Barrier Island that go along the coast. And  Head Land which is the part of land that goes out farther. Wave Erosion occurs when waves are thrusts at earth surface that hearl to shore, breaking down the loose earth material, moving it around, and creating what we know as Wave Erosion. We also included; longshore bar, longshore current, Rip current, wave refraction, Wave cut platform, sea stacks, sea caves, Estuary, Tombolo, Abrasion, longshore drift, and a spit. We made the model out of clay, paint, toothpicks, tape, and allt he typical things used to either write, mold, ect.

Our Volcano

Here is our shield volcano, we did it after the Mauna Loa Volcano that is also shield. We made this volcano out of home made plato then painted it and mixed small pieces of clay with red to make the AA lava, to add texture. We labeled and made many parts of the volcano on our model. We labeled these 11: 1. Side Vent (bottle cap), 2. Magma (in the top hole area) 3. Pyroclastic Flow (the cotton balls) 4. Lava Flow (the lava, with paint on sides) 5. Magma Chamber (painted with paint in cross section) 6. Pipe (in cross section) 7. Phahoehoe (the runny lava) 8. Hot Spring (the colorful purplish thing in the corner) 9. Crater (at the top) 10. Vent (at the top) 11. AA (another type of lava that was made out of the clay pieces and red paint) We a;so included gently sloping sides to go with it being Shield. The cross section shows in the sides the different layers of lava/ash/lava/ash. We are going to erupt it with baking soda and vinegar when the time comes. The Shield volcano erupts both Phahoehoe and AA lava.

The Stoning of Stephen

~ The Saga of the Stoning of Stephen ~

By: Tori Roskamp

There is no good or right way to tell the many stories of Stephen,

Who was chosen by the Disciples,

Chose to go out into the world and share the Word of God,

He was chosen to share of His love and grace,

And to the people he faced,

Of His coming as Son of Man,

To anyone who let him he can,

But Seven has to go through many trials to to so,

He took beatings and blows,

And he is a perfect example of courageousness,

Loving Him, and fearlessly sharing the Lord outrageous,

One day as he was out and about,

Sharing the gospel to people with not a doubt,

Showing some of the many wonders to the people,

Letting it known to people of the steeple,

Some of the people of the town were mad,

So they went to the teachers of the law who were bad,

They seized Stephen,

Accusing him uneven,

They took him to the temple courts,

Where they accused him of all sorts,

Told him he couldn’t preach no longer,

But that only made Stephen stronger,

So courageous Stephen told those who accused him of the Lord’s grace and power,

Only to have the leaders rage and scour,

So the leaders took Stephen to the streets,

Where Stephen took the people’s beats,

So there Stephen lay,

At his dismay,

He called out to the Lord,

“Take my soul”, He said,

And with that he went to sleep,

So the Lord’s people started to weep,

They knew he wasn’t with them no longer,

But with the Lord in all his power,

So as you can see there is no way to tell of Stephen’s death in a happy way,

Him being stoned at the people’s bay,

But He was an amazing follower of Christ,

And Stephen did his part and sufficed,

The Lord took Stephen to heaven that day,

And Stephen is still there now forever to stay,

So this story is an example to masses,

And students are learning about Stephen in their Bible classes,

So take this to heart,

Stephens story was only just the start,

He impacted to world so much,

And with that we should do as such.

Our toothpick building

For this toothpick tower, I had the responsibility of actually designing the structure. I also helped with making and figuring out how much of everything to buy.  I sort of helped with the presentation also. I did research about different towers that have worked too. I helped with putting the structure together and drawing the design of it. I did measurements for it.

The Holy Spirt

The Holy Spirit is a peacekeeper, comforter, supporter, our friend, and our guide. The Holy Spirit has a lot of jobs to do, he’s basically most of our coinciness. We do make some of our own decisions, but the Holy Spirit is the one who guides us to do the right ones. Its either we listen to the devil telling us what to do and or, the Holy Spirit.  The Holy Spirit guides us to make the right decisions, ones that would honor God, comfort’s us about our believe and when we’re stressed, supports us to stand up for what is right, keeps peace with what we’re going through and peace in our hearts, knowing that He is with us always. The Holy Spirits also the number one “person” to turn to when you’re upset, confused, frustrated, guilty, and or, everything else. The Holy Spirit’s always with us, even when we don’t realize it.

The Holy Spirit applies to my own live as well as all of everyones. I feel like when I really notice the Holy Spirit is when I’m singing some songs in church. Some of the songs we sing in church have such an impact on me, some of the lyrics are pretty hard hitting lyrics and Its just really a great time to praise. I also feel the Holy Spirit working through my devotions, when I read it at night, it’s amazing thinking about everything He’s done and realizing just how big He is in our lives, and in everyone else’s. I also feel the Holy Spirit through my family and friends. I feel like they’ve made such a difference in my live and I’m so glad I have the people I do in my life, wouldn’t trade it for anything. Theres a lot of ways we can see the Holy Spirit through our lives, and there’s plenty more I bet anyone can name. Through the little things, and the big things and nobody would be able to name them all.

How I Could Apply Math to My Life.

If I ever go into architecture, or become an architect, or any job like that, then I’ll need to use what we learned in chapter 6. In chapter 6, we learn about how to find the areas, perimeters, and volume of shapes that are 3-D or flat, which will be helpful in actually making the things I could be making in that job, or observing in that job. Like If I need to find the area of a shape to fill it up with what not, then to find the area, I now know the formula to do so.  Or if I need to make something with the right dimensions, then  what we learned in chapter 6 would help with that. And in other jobs, not just that one, what we learned would be useful. If I went into design, I would need to figure out just the right measurements of an object, irregular or normal, the formulas in chapter 6 would be very useful.  There are many jobs you would need what we learned in this chapter to do. Even if I become a scientist, I would need to know those formulas, for example, the formula for how you find density, I would probably need to know and use a lot if I went into that job, and we learned how to find that in this math chapter.

Bowling Yesterday

Yesterday as an 8th grade we went bowling, it was really fun, except I stunk at it. I’m pretty sure at least half of my turns were gutter balls and other other one I actually did get the pins, they weren’t that much. But one time, one time, I got all but 2 I’m pretty sure. Which didn’t make since cause the other times I’ve gone bowling I feel like I did good and could actually get the pins down. Oh. Well. it was really fun, the second game we played we did all like “trick” shots, where people would bowl underneath other’s legs in a line, and just stuff like that, It was pretty hilarious.

Metaphor Writing- Mountain

My life is sitting at the peaceful river bed in the cool dusk of day with a beautiful mountain view in front of you. Knowing that the days done and you’ve done good with yourself. That I made a difference. Feeling like I’m living my life to the fullest. Like the low waves of the river, I feel like my life is like looking at this view. Just looking at it makes you feel amazing, like the whole worlds lifted off you shoulders. Feeling stress free, feeling peaceful in knowing that what you’re doing makes others feel good, not  just yourself. Feeling care free. Worry free from everything thats going on around you. LIke when I hear good news, I feel happy, peaceful, like my prayers went into something that made a difference to somebody.

My life is standing at the edge of a mountain, looking down at the steep rocks below. This is not a pleasant place to be, looking down, seeing that one step could basically end you, and everything you stood for. That feeling you feel when you see this, is pretty scary. LIke my life has many fears in it. I fear that feeling of total uselessness, like I’m not making a difference to anybody and I’m just a wasted space to fill, like they don’t enjoy my company enough or dislike me even being there. Think I’m just there and have no reason to. I dislike when those thought swarm my head, clogging my brain from thinking straight looking down below me. Sometimes I have to just keep going, to not think and just don’t stop. To face it, to ignore the thoughts in my head and worries I have. I don’t like thinking that some people will probably just not like me. Feeling like one mistake I make will make someone think differently of me. Sometimes when I feel like I shouldn’t be saying something, I fear that cause I said it with that tone or those words that that person won’t like me anymore or ignore me. I fear being unliked or unwanted in a group. I fear my image around others.

My life is a low to get steep mountain that only goes up. How easy it is to climb that rolling, gradually getting higher mountain is probably one of the safest places to walk getting up a mountain. Feeling pretty positive you can’t really fall walking up this and actually get hurt.  But, people still fear that there might be a snake in the near by fern or a mouse crawling around in the dirt.  As it gets higher, it feels the same, no difference in the walk. this is my life by the way sometimes my life can be easy and not challenging. But I still find stress in things that should not be stressful at all; in the little things. I find stress in homework, even when its not due for a while, I want to get it done with. I find stress in having to be good at everything I try and commit to. I try hard to ace that test or this quiz or that drawing in art or this paper. Other than this, my life would be simple. I would just try my best and leave the rest to God. But instead I stay working and worrying about it when I can do nothing about it. Sure I could study and get better, but I don’t have to stress and think about it 24/7 to feel complete in that I know it. Worrying about it at night and not getting sleep doesn’t help at all. If it weren’t for this worry I would be a lot more carefree in life. Things probably wouldn’t hit me as hard with tests and such and I wouldn’t get mad at myself if I didn’t do as good as hoped.

My life is the dirt road leading up to the top of the mountain. I’ll have struggles in this life and sometimes it’ll be hard to make it to the top, but I know it’s all part of God’s plan. I probably won’t at that time, I’ll be mad or upset about something, then look back on it and see the difference that it’s made in how I act, and how I think about things. They’ll be twists and turns on the path and times I feel like I won’t be able to go on, to give up, then I know God’s right there. Or I’ll eventually know, and try to hang on a bit longer. I don’t have to do all the work. God can take my burdens I carry and smooth the road I travel on. Knowing that God is with me and there when in times of stress or pleaser is the best feeling.

Jesus’ Crucifiction

i think its cool how Jesus’ last seven words can be related to our own life. I think its pretty cool that even Jesus was about to die a horrible death, he thought about us and talked about us through this. Instead of pitying himself, like I would’ve probably done, he still praised God through it and make more disciples.  I can apply these last seven words to my own life and thats the coolest part. I like how Jesus talked about other people and always thought of them first, before himself. And I wonder why we just did his last seven words, what about what He said before that?
